Duncan gets in foul trouble and has an off night and.........WHAT A SHOCK, Spurs get blown out

Parkers numbers were shallow, and Manu was his 4-12 self

When Duncan has off why can't Paker or Manu carry this team to at least 1 win?

May God have mercy on the Spurs tomorrow

San Antonio only needs one game in Utah, come home for game 5 and a 4-1 series win.

Because Duncan makes those guys look better than they are for the most part. If they played on another team where the D can focus on them more neither Manu or Tony would be all stars i feel.

They are anything but a 1-man show. They stuck around for 3 quarters without Duncan logging in major minutes. We have a damn good team around Duncan. In fact, the Jazz pullled away with Duncan on the court. Parker's numbers were shallow??? :rolleyes

I would agree that Parker's numbers didn't tell the whole story. The ball movement was awful in the 2nd half.

I don't agree that 4-12 was Manu's normal "self".

Game 1: Manu's FG% was 9-14 (64.3%)
Game 2: Manu's FG% was 6-12 (50%)

Regular Season FG% was 46.4%, higher than his career average (45.2%).

The only bad shooting series for Manu was the Round 1 Seattle series

Those numbers are much better than Tracy McGrady's numbers in the playoffs and this season (39.4% and 43.1% respectively).

I understand, but you in the previous 2 games Manu just seemed to be able dominate, but maybe that was because Duncan was getting so much attention

too bad, TD was 6-9fg and was prob going to have a monster game

I agree with a couple of things already said.

Two of the three do have to show up. It's a team sport, one man can't do it alone.

That being said...
Duncan does make everyone around him look better than they are because Duncan makes it easier for everyone else.

The phrase "makes his teammates better" is Duncan to a T. Our defense runs through him, driving offense into the baseline where he is waiting to block or alter shots. Our offense starts with him, our perimeter guys are at their best when Duncan is double teamed and kicks it out.

To sum it up: the Spurs only go as far as Duncan goes. Horry has said it. Pop has said it. Tony has said it. Manu has said it.

They say it, I see it. I believe it.
Until we are more than "the big three", everything we do depends on Duncan.

And that's okay.
I believe in Tim Duncan. He has gotten us there 3 times, he will get us our fourth.

PS: Tony and Manu are fantastic players. But their sucess has come from playing with Duncan.

manu made up for any potential bad game he might have when he scored 33 vs PHX!

Are you kidding? Game 3 was not the game for them to do it. That was Jazz night, bro. No way the Jazz were going to get placed into a 3-0 hole with Duncan in serious foul trouble.

But not a big surprise. SD21 seems to be either elated or in a black depression. I always wonder why people expect us to either sweep or lose the series. My seat of the pants estimate is that probably 75% of series go either 5 or 6 games, but if anyone has the real numbers, please share.

Spurs in SIX. I wagered virtual money on it... :hat

What year was that Chicago went up 3-0 on Seattle and then the next two games Seattle absolutley creamed them the next to games. Was that like 96 or 98? Anyway we just let our guard down. I won't be worried until we actually go down in this series, thats when I'll start signing the I believe stuff.

96, the bulls pretty much wanted to win at home and didn't "try" in games 4 and 5, then came back to chicago on fathers day and won. I think people don't realize how hard it is to sweep a team, especially a team that has made it to the WCF. Spurs in five.

He anchors the defense; it's not a surprise that the Spurs pivot on his success. I still move that it's nothing to worry about; Duncan's not in foul trouble all that often.

Would you shut it? Oh, and I hardly think that the Spurs are a worthwhile target for prayer. If that's what you're worried about enough to pray for in our world today, your priorities are totally fucked.
