Tom Orsborn: Steve Javie sighting
SALT LAKE CITY - One of the officials for tonight's game will be the dreaded Steve Javie, never a favorite of Spurs fans, although he does have a reputation for being tough on the home team.

I spotted Javie in the concierge's lounge this morning here at the Marriott City Center munching on a bagel and chatting with a friend. Next to his bagel was suspence writer Stuart Woods' latest, "Short Straw."

Reviews for the book on Amazon.com aren't good. "One supposes that an author who has had a number of successful books can get anything published," one reviewer cracked. "That's the only reason that this...uh...novel (could) have ever made it into print. There is not one believable character. Everybody climbs into bed with everybody else. No one seems to actually think. The plot itself is fairly silly and could easily have been taken care of at half the length...and even then would have been an utter waste of time."

Bad decision by Javie?

Spurs fans better hope he doesn't make any more tonight.

WGAF? The refs are the refs. They're all awful, almost without exception.

Spurs don't blame the refs. They rightfully blame themselves, even Duncan.

I predict a close game tonight, with the Spurs eking out a victory.

The NBA is the worst officiated professional sport ever... you just have to play through it.

I expect the Spurs to be ready to deal with any set of officials.

Javie is so biased against Duncan though. I really hope he doesn't get into foul trouble, because I've seen Duncan play smart and still get whistled for fouls by Javie.

You mean like the foul in game 3 where he was whistled for tying up D.Fish on a screen and his hands were straight down and D.Fish had him wrapped up?

Honestly, I hope one day the NBA gets to the point we don't know refs by name.

They shouldn't have that much impact.

I thought Javie hated everyone and just liked to see who he could screw over in the game he was calling
