It was in a box in my garage. I don't know whose it is because only me and my mom live here and it's not hers...

So it's one of those old ones, the first generation, with the next, previous, play, and menu buttons about the circle thing and I can't get it turned on. Maybe the charge I found with it is faulty or maybe it doesn't work. Does anyone know how I can get it fixed or who can?

you can always take it by an Apple store and they will check it out.

Mouse will fix it for a 6-pack of Rolling Rock.

I own the first generation iPod. I am willing to bet you can just buy a new battery for it and install it yourself for about $25. That is what I did to mine when the battery died. You have to order in online I think.
Can't I just recharge it?

First gen batteries were twitchy, IIRC.

GiG, can I only get them online? Or could I get them at a store? Because if I have to buy one and it turns out I don't need it, I'd like to return it.

How do I open it?
