You mean like Manu took over the 4th and "closed out the game" Monday night?

I think TD would cringe at Kobe coming here. Kobe jacking up 50 shots a night, and then pointing to Tim as the cause of his troubles.

No Fucking Thanks. If Kobe wants to be traded, send him to the Nuggets. He already has some history in Colorado.

Same thing was said when the deadline came and went with no "big" trades. Remember, "Spurs probably won't make playoffs"...

"If they do, they will be a first round exit"......yada, yada, yada.

Now here they are one game from the finals, and some Spurs fans still not giving this team credit.

Not happening with egotistical a$$ bigman like Shaq, won't happen either with a ultra unselfish superstar bigman in SA. Certainly wouldn't happen if Pop keeps his reign.

The Spurs are poised for yet another title, why would they want or even need Kobe?

It's not star power which wins games, its having all the right pieces, which the Spurs have. Not to mention by trading Parker you'd have no point guard, with little chance of getting a good one. and point guard seems to be the key postion in the NBA right now, all the western teams who advanced passed the first round had really good point guards. You may have TD and KB but that would be it.

So you think replacing the SPurs starting point guard and the one guy we have off the bench who can consistently put up numbers for a guy who just shoots is worth it? I like Kobe a lot but I would be super pissed if they made that trade. Manu for Kobe with no other player involved sure, but not both

Oh, you were serious? Then, no fucking way. Where are you going to find a decent point guard and back up and how were you planning to pay them when we absorb Kobe's monster contract? Additionally, what, precisely, are you going to do when Kobe complains that he's not getting the ball enough? No thanks.

Incidentally, I don't think he'd fit in this system - one of the big things about the system is the buy-in that no one is special or better than anyone else, and Kobe cannot adjust to that at this point, imo.

Would I consider Manu for Kobe and some scratch? Probably, but I still don't like it and there is no way that LA takes it.

Unfreakin'believable. Aside from the absurdity of this idea, as a Spurs loyalist I can't fathom why anyone would remotely agree to losing ANY of our players (even Beno) for that ballhogging jerk. We are on the verge of possibly winning a fourth championship WITH THE AWESOME PLAYERS we already have, who can go a few more years.

Whoever suggests a trade like this and agrees with it is no true Spurs fan, imo. We have the winningest team right now and should have no room for complaint and dumbass ideas like this.

What has Manu & Parker done for us? I don't know, win championships perhaps? But hey, let's throw them away for a piece of sh*t like Kobe just so we can "win" even more than we are now? :wtf

Good post overall...but that even beno part was just a tad bit homer :fro

I would have no problem if we had Kobe....only a couple of slight problems with your proposal.

1. We can't afford him.
2. We will be left without a point and a shallow bench.
3. See 2004 Lakers. How did the last "Super Team" work out?

I don't agree with those who would not take Kobe just because he is Kobe. I would welcome Kobe with open arms for the right circumstances. But right now that deal is WAAAY too risky.

All of you people bashing this guy. Did you root for the Kidd trade to pan out? Cause if you did, that makes you an even bigger moron. We woulda lost both Parker and Ginobili to free agency the following year. I for one wouldnt give up both Tony and Manu for Kobe. Now if it was just one of them I would in a heart beat. But even then salaries would come into play and it wouldnt work out. In any event, We got a championship calibur team for at leat another 2 to 3 years. So no need to break that up.

I'm sorry Kobe is fantastic player but an absolute cancer in the locker room. If the Spurs ever traded Manu I wouldn't be a fan of the team. What has Manu done for the Spurs other than keep his mouth shut, never complain, come off the bench, and give 110% when he is out on the floor.

Tony is a top 5 point guard who if he can average a couple of more assists per game can definitely be one of the best in a couple of years and he is only 25 years old.

Sorry we have one Superstar, in Duncan and two Stars in Manu and Parker...why fuck that up?

Also, this team contends for a title every year, with the team it has, and if anyone believes if Kobe comes in guarantees titles is sadly delusional! The Spurs would contend for a title with Kobe but that doesn't guarantee one!

One last thing: Kobe wouldn’t listen to Pop either!

AMEN
