1998-2007

Based on wins, winning percentage(best in all of sports) playoff record, championships

There has to be serious consideration.

(2007 Finals excluded for now.)

The Spurs have been the best team of the past ten years.

A decade, as we typically refer to it in sports, goes one of two ways:

1) Years one through zero (for example 1971-1980)
2) Years zero through nine (for example 1990-1999)

So when I refer to the team of the decade, I use the zero through nine approach (2000-2009) and with that the Lakers are, for right now, ahead of the Spurs in terms of championships. If the Spurs win this championship, we will draw even with the Lakers in that department (we have already drawn even in Finals appearances) and we surpass them in every other conceivable measure.

So with four more playoff wins, the Spurs become the team of the 2000's. I like the sound of that.

I'd say tied with the Lakers based on the Lakers' 3-peat.

But, the Spurs have been consistent in the past 9-10 years unlike the Lakers. They've been a contender pretty much since Duncan's rookie year.

Should they win the finals this year (I'm not counting this year yet), they are hands down the best team of the past 10 years!

More titles (currently tied with LA), more playoff appearances, and they have only one 1st round out in that span. (2000, when Duncan was injured.)

Lakers have 4 finals appearances in the decade thus far. They're 3-1.

If....no no no WHEN spurs win the title, Duncan will be considered by anybody with an ounce of common sense the best player since Jordan...Should we proclaim the first decade of the 21st century a Duncade?

For some reason, I forgot that the Pistons beat the Lakers in 2004.

I need sleep.
