...start calling screens "hedges"???

I noticed it a few games back and now it's starting to work on my last good nerve.

Are you sure he's not talking about defending the screen? When the big men flash out on the guard, it's called a hedge.

Yeah, Bill has been using that term a lot lately. AHF is right. When a defender "shows" a hard hedge, it's usually to either give some recovery time for the defender who was screened on a screen and roll or to thwart an outside shot option off the screen. When a defender shows a soft hedge on the switch, it's to counter against a good penetrator or passer (or he's lazy :) ).

So, are you saying Bill needs to trim back his "hedges"?

Sounds to me like he's using it to describe a screen. It is rapidly approaching "Up tempo" as the most irritating Schoeningism.

"no question (about it)" is another phrase parrotted incessantly by Fred Carter, Sean Elliott, etc.

dumbest topic ever

since you can't whine about the team you start whining about the announcers, pathetic

While we're on announcers, I'm drawing a blank as to who was calling the game with Sean last night, but dude was either high or needs to be replaced.

Among other things, he said Bowen had a shot blocked when it was Tony, called Tony "Tim Parker", and I can't remember there was something else messed up too.

Dick Stockton. He did make a mistake or two last night, but it doesn't seem to a habit.

Dick Stockton needs to be put out to pasture.

Hes horrible and has hardly a clue half of the time whats goin on.

He also didn't know the difference between Barry and Beno. He called them each other's names at least six times. But I thought it was Bill Land not Stockton last night.

Dick Stockton is a major broadcast talent and veteran. He's probably forgotten more than most of us will ever know about basketball and most major sports.

But therein lies the problem. He's forgotten.

That's who it was, Stockton. I think my dad and I spent half the game looking at each other after one of his "out there" comments.
