How would you rank Lebron's scrubs to Kobe's scrubs? Most of those guys would not even start for the Spurs or Pistons.

I'm one of the biggest Kobe fan's you'll find..and Kobe could NOT do this. He could carry his team to a win like this single handidly...but in the same manner King James did? No way.

LeBron has out muscled everybody on the court...He gets fouled on every dunk & it does not even slow down his momentum....

Lebron is amazingly quick for how big he is. He's got Magic's body with Kobe's speed. And only 22. I guess we'll be seeing a lot of this guy.

Kobe would have given up halfway into the 1st overtime.

On the road in the ECF in the pivotoal Game 5 with 3 minutes remaining in the 4th..

Thats what I'm thinking too. He relies more on his jumper than Lebron does. I think Kobe could had done the same thing. But I still think that Cleveland has better supporting players than LA. You at least have to respect Hughes and Illguskas. Some of the crap I see Odom forcing up always has me scratching my head. I think Kobe on Cleveland could accomplish the same thing if focused.

With 3 minutes remaining in the fourth, how much were they down by? He was able to tie the game. Your a Lakers fan but i'm sure somewhere along the 3 rings Kobe was able to get, there was a spectacular performance.

The fact is, Kobe has only accomplished shit with other backing him up.

There's a reason the Lakers won 3 Championships in a row: Shaq, Kobe, Horry, and Fisher.

(I'm probably forgetting someone important, but I don't really feel like going back to 2002 and looking up the Laker roster.)

Simple answer: No, he could not.

He'd have demanded a trade while at the FT line.

Off the top of my head, Kobe had two comparable performances to this, both in the 2000 playoffs: Game 7 versus Portland (WCF), Game 4 versus Indiana (Finals). I know I'm forgetting something, and I'm sure he had a great game or two versus Phoenix in the '06 playoffs.

One of the guys on TNT (I forget which one), last night said it. We're watching LeBron grow up. Kobe has years on him.

He'll be incredible if he sustains this kind of play. Every game, every night is a ways away, but his potential is intense.

Let's not forget Kobe Bryant single handedly taking his team to the playoffs two straight years and that he doesn't have 2 former All-Stars on his team, and that he plays in the WEST, not in the EAST.

But, in all honestly, I don't think Kobe could do it. The dude is inguardable, but he would probably settle for jumpers instead.

Kobe has done what LeBron did. The 81 point game against Toronto and the 62 point game against Dallas where he outscored the Mavericks through his three quarters of play.

Kobe has never done it in the playoffs. He didn't have to with Shaq at his side. He hasn't lately either, but then again, the Lakers have a harder road than LeBron's Cavs have in the playoffs.

Of course he could have. He's done it before.

I doubt Lebron could do this against the 03-04 Pistons. O3-04 Pistons>>>06-07 Pistons. Kobe probably could light them up as well but maybe not that incredible.

Great Performance by Lebron...1 game, great...what the other games when he laid an egg....in the same series no less. Can Kobe do this....hell yeah, I remember a game when Shaq fouled out in the 4th...Kobe took over, got it to OT and scored like 8-10 straight points to win it.

That was game 4 of the 2000 NBA Finals at Indiana. I remember it well. Reggie Miller missed a 3 pointer that would've won that game for the Pacers

He could have scored 48 sure, but not with 7 assists and 9 rebounds.

Question is:

Can Lebron do this with 2-3 guys defending him? I bet he'd love to have Kobe's fade away then.

What about the 10 point performance earlier in the series. Great players have off and on nights...
http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/SAC20010513.html

Kobe in 2001...48 points, 16 boards, and 3 assists...vs Sacremento first round.
http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/SAS20010519.html

Kobe in 2001 vs Spurs....45 points 10 boards shooting 54%.....

Let's put the discussion to rest....and If Lebron can win a ring this year...than mad props to him, for sure.

Manu did it in 2005 vs. Suns.

scored the last 29 points in the game for his team and singlehandedly carried them to victory?

actually Manu did something like that this year against the Hawks :lol

that one game against portland a few years ago... kobe had those 3 or 4 super retarded 3 pnt bombs to either help secure an 8th seed or maybe the pacific... i can't remember if it was post shaq or not.

granted it wasn't a playoff game... i remember seeing that game and just thinking those were some of the most impossible shots i've ever seen go in.

also can't remember his pnt/ass/rbnd totals from that game.

Guys like Lebron, Kobe, and Wade, basically perimeter players will always be compared to Jordan and the like...with each great game, comes great applause, and with each dud, come down the hammer of mortality. I love Lebron as a player and I like his commercials...still what he's doing at his age is astonishing, but we've seen it before and we'll see it again.

He still put up big rebound/assist numbers, and if Donyell Marshall makes a wide open three, people call that a good game for Lebron and this series is over already.

We've seen Kobe give up on his shitty team time after time...when his team is sucking, Lebron juts nuts up and keeps on fighting.

Amazing that, with all the experience Kobe's got, Lebron is still LIGHT YEARS ahead of him as far as maturity goes.

If Kobe had done that they would be talking about Kobe's game along the lines of Magic's game at center, MJ's Flu game, MJ's 63-pointer, etc. They are not. LeBron's game is in that company

Kobe had Shaq. Kobe's performances were easier because having a 350-pound gorilla to take more shots and be the focal point of the defense every single game leaves Kobe free to do his thing in the clutch. LeBron went into that game with a bulls-eye on his back. And still came through.

Kobe had the veteran role players. Through his playoff runs he's played with the likes of Rice, Harper, Grant, Horry, Fox, Fisher, Malone, Payton, AC Green, etc. The Cavs have role players who collectively lose their nuts towards the end of games.

Also Kobe has Phil Jackson as coach. LeBron has Mike f'n Brown. Brown basically made it more difficult for LeBron. He has a playbook with 2 pages and can't count his timeouts.

No comparison.

Could Kobe do it yes.

Did he not score 80 points in a game?

IF Kobe had the same talent around him I think he could. And yes I think the Cavs have more talent around them than Kobe does at this point.

and he makes it too. Do what you do best. Not time to rail on Kobe. He's still one of the best in the game.

I Like Kobe he's a very very good player like Lebron i don't prefer someone but could kobe did the same near triple double performance : i don't think so.

maybe kobe can score more than lebron but he can't create as lbj for his teammates .......
