First NASCAR, now NHRA drag racing. ESPN2 carried the competition today. Top Fuel, Funny cars and some sort of souped up Stock Cars. Top Fuel are fucking amazing, and in HD, you can see the flames and colors coming out of the side pipes.
Hight's fucking Funny Car BLEW UP as he crossed the finish line. Bad fire. He was in the left lane, managed to deploy his chutes, which burned off, but slowed him somewhat, hit the right wall, veered and hit the left wall. After he hit the left wall, he popped out of the top, rode the car into the sand, and hopped out. He was fine, but the car was fucked up bad. They got three crews working on it, and almost managed to turn it in 75 minutes. The rule is that once eliminations start. you must use the same frame from round to round. They basically stripped everything off the tubes, and rebuilt the car in 75 minutes, but they had leaks and couldn't even stage.
