View Full Version : i dont think Duncan will win Finals MVP
i think it will actually be Ginobli, who will have a huge series. Gooden is very good defensively and Ilgauskas is 7,3'. plus the double teams will come so i dont think Duncan will dominate this series. if Manu wins the Finals MVP you heard it here first.

Seriously? You don't think TD will win MVP? Well that's surprising coming from a guy who has ``Duncan Sucks`` written under his name.
lol, nice way to loose credibility.

I thought Manu should have won it in '05. (But Duncan is healthier and playing better this year than in '05.)

:rolleyes We didn't hear it here first. We heard it in 2005. Of all the Finals Duncan's played in, you think Ilgauskas is going to shut him down? Anyway, I expect all our players to bring it. If we argue over who deserves to be named MVP, that's a great problem to have.

Neither of those guys you metioned can stop him to me it comes down to how they guard him as a team. If they double like crazy then Tim will be a passer in the series, rebound and play great D like he always does. Tim's legacy is going through the roof if he wins this 4th title, finals MVP or not. Magic has 5 rings and won finals mvp 3 times same as Tim. Bird has 3 rings and won finals MVP twice.

Maybe he will but Tim not winning a 4 finals mvp is not going to effect his legacy at all.

If lebron avergages 50 a game (with a good percentage) and the spurs win in 5 you think lebron a losing team could get the finals mvp
:lol
Gooden is not very good defensively, he is bordering on very bad.
Varejao is pretty good, and Ilgauskas is long... Gooden is just...Meh.

Gooden's defense is poor MOST of the time. If Drew is playing poorly offensively he gets down and plays poor defense. If Drew is playing well offensively he turns into an All-Star player, this is not an exaggeration. His defense improves, his rebounding improves, and he can score in a variety of ways. Varejao is a good defender when he isn't flopping. He gave Sheed a very tough time. I think Tony Parker will win MVP if you guys take the series. We have the most trouble with defending PGs. LeBron will guard Manu in the 4th if the game is online. I know LeBron doesn't get credit for his defense, but he is very good defensively when he cares. Which has been the whole playoffs. I mean he's quick, long, and strong.

I thought Ginobili was going to win it in 05. The thing is that Tim Duncan is the most important player on the team. He'll win it this year cause hes in great health.

Probably if they win Tim will get it, i mean he has been the best player in every series so far it is hard to believe he will not be the best in the Finals especially when Tim has been so great in past finals. You gotta think even if they double him like crazy and the series goes 5 or 6 games he is still likely to go for around 20 and 12 a game. If they play him straight up he will go easy for 28-30 a game.
If Drew is playing well offensively he turns into an All-Star player, this is not an exaggeration. His defense improves, his rebounding improves, and he can score in a variety of ways.
yeah i see what you are saying and this is what i was trying to say. more of a "streaky" good defender. sure he's not always a consistently good defender. those who have seen Gooden play, know that if he is hitting his shots early he turns into an all star cause his energy level goes up. and it is the Finals after all, so i expect his energy level to be up

I dont see why he wouldnt if he can stop LeGod James. I say give him the MVP if he can lock him down.
I also thought Manu should have won it in '05 but Timmy also deserved it as well. If there was a year to have Co-MVPs 05 was the year.

Tim outplayed Manu in that series he struggled at times on offense but his rebounding and defense was the difference over Manu.

Tim wins it by default. Finals MVPs are now bonus to him. But it doesn't really matter, since that's not what any teammate is playing for. Luckily we have the best player in the NBA, on an egoless team.
Manu could very well win it, if he put on his Semi-WCF game 6 type performance for at least 4 games in this seven game series. But by the way this team is clicking? I don't that kind of performance is needed from him.

In all likelihood if the Spurs win it he will get the award again. He has been the man in every series so far, why would the finals be any different??

However duncan winning it will be a benefit years from now when we are comparing his stats to the all time greats.

Here's the deal - this is going to be the first time in history the Finals MVP is based on the amount of flopping by South American players.
So, whoever among Oberto, Manu, and Varejao flops their team to victory will win MVP.

Flopping is obviously a skill, since Nash flopped his team completely out of contention...

Nash flopped on the Bowen nut kick which got everyone that was already fuming about the Amare flat tire in a tizzy. When Nash flolloped into the scorer's table and threw his arms and legs out, it made everyone react. Raja created the altercation, and Amare and Diaw did the rest. Hey, at least you have an excuse for your team losing, right?
BTW, Fish didn't get the technical for the foul, he got it for standing over Manu afterward. Horry turned and walked away from Nash. Fisher got himself ejected by committing his sixth foul.

Then i read it. You could be right. They will end up double teaming Timmy I think and either Manu or TP will have an easier time., depending on who they pull double teamer off of.

I'll be rooting for Tim to win the Finals MVP for one reason: the list of players who have more than 3 Finals MVPs right now looks like this.
1.) Michael Jordan
And that's it. But the next Finals MVP for Timmy would be his 4th. If Tim retires as one of the only 2 players on that list, then people will be able to talk about him as the 2nd greatest player ever. (In fairness, Bill Russell would have possibly won more than Jordan if the award was around back then.)
