Yes, the fact that she chose a United States Congressman over yourself, an internet posting, conspiracy believing, gullable jackass, is shocking to me as well.

The CF didn't even think about trying to catch that one.

Presidential candidate Fred Thompson’s second-and-current wife Jeri, who is considered by some to be a “trophy wife,” was the topic of an interesting conversation on Friday’s Morning Joe radio talk show, which aired live on MSNBC. During a rather suggestive segment, Scarborough asked Congressional Quarterly writer Craig Crawford if Thompson’s wife, who is twenty-five years his junior, “works the pole.”

Here’s the video (transcript below):

SCARBOROUGH: Have you seen Fred Thompson’s wife?
CRAWFORD: Oh, yeah.
SCARBOROUGH: You think she thinks she works the pole?
CRAWFORD: That’s what a Hollywood career will do for you, I guess.
SCARBOROUGH: What do you mean?
CRAWFORD: You get wives like that.
SCARBOROUGH: I mean, look at that guy. God bless him, I love his voice. But I mean, you know. He ain’t Robert Redford in “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.”
CRAWFORD: Well I would like to see him back into politics because I think he’s a lousy actor.

We’re not exactly sure what Scarborough is suggesting - there are a few interpretations and we’ll leave those to you - but we are sure that MSNBC doesn’t need another Don Imus-like mess on their hands.

Jealous are you Dan. She is definitely a keeper and will make
a really nice First Lady. You can have Billary, I'll take Thompson's
wife. She's a doll. Eat your heart out.

Speaking of Polls...

I'm not a fan of over reliance on polls this early, and I'm not a fan of any reliance on national polls (because it is pointless to measure the efficacy of the campaigns in the states where the campaigns are not yet operating), but I think polls in states where the candidates are actively campaigning can be a good snapshot of how well the campaigns are succeeding at getting out their candidates' messages. In that context, here is what the American Research Group has just released for Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina:

May 29, 2007 - Presidential Preferences

IA -- NH -- SC

31% - 34% - 34% ... Clinton

01% - 01% - 01% ... Clark
01% - 01% - 00% ... Gravel

And they need to stop photographing Thompson if they want him to get elected...he looks like he's got both feet in the grave already.

Jealousy is a trophy wife, apparently.

Also wondering what the "open thread" disclaimer means.
