The Yankees would be incredibly stupid to back out of this race. Pitching cost them the WS last year, it will be their downfall again this year unless they do something.

As much as it pains me to admit it, but if the Yankees don't do something about their pitching, you can concede the title back to the Red Sox.

I don't know... the Red Sox aren't really built like a dynasty themselves... Old pitching (which will get worse if Pedro leaves), Varitek possibly gone...

I think the Yankees are playing hardball with AZ. They know the DBacks can't really trade him to another team, so they're trying to get the offer lower.

It would be pretty sweet to see Boston sneak in and trade for Johnson.
