Labron James averages 35-40 points a game, should he be considered for the Finals MVP?

He'll have to average 55+ before we can consider it.

I would say it depends.

If it's a seven-game series, maybe.

If the Spur win in less than seven, no.

It don't mean a thing if you don't get the ring.

What's this "we" crap? Since when do "we" make the Finals MVP decision?

Lebron would have to average at least that (35-40) plus 10+ rebounds AND assists AND take the Spurs to 7 games to be even considered.

Has finals MVP ever gone to a player from the losing team?

FromWayDownTown, Solid... any of you old buggers know? :)

I know the Superbowl MVP has. But as far as the NBA I'm not sure.

Scratch that.

Jerry West in 1969.

The award typically goes to a player on the winning team, though when it was first awarded to Jerry West in 1969, his Los Angeles Lakers' team lost to the Boston Celtics. This was the only year that the award went to a player whose team did not win the championship.

Finals Most Valuable Player
1969 -- Jerry West, Los Angeles
Averaged 30.9 points, 3.9 rebounds and 7.5 assists in 18 playoff games as the Lakers lost to the Boston Celtics, 4-3. West has been the only NBA Finals MVP to play for a losing team.

Thanks, Blaze.

So his team had to lose in 7 as well... Pretty safe to say barring some type of Wilt Chameberlain numbers performance from a player, it's impossble to get Finals MVP on the losing side.

I dont think any of us would care if he did right now....but 10 years from now when we compare duncans stats to others we will be pissed.
