The time has finally arrived to get this thing done. The Spurs need Game 1. San Antonio needs to come out ready to play, shake off the rust and have the needed emotion.

The Cavs are a worthy adversary. That said, it's time to use the Finals experience and come out ready to roll.

Get Game 1.

Yeah, I would take the Nets or Pistons backcourt before SA, Ginobili and Parker are very good but it also is very easy to look good when opposing teams have an All-World player like Tim Duncan to worry about. Get Duncan in foul trouble and Cavs win easily.

You should give the Cavs more credit, the way I see it the Cavs are much better than any of the teams you guys have faced save Phoenix, however they match up better than Phoenix because they actually play championship defense. Denver I don't really consider to be all that good and Utah is vastly overrated and still needs to find their identity as a team. Also, Lebron isn't hype, you can't be hype and score 48 points on the road, 29 of the last 30 against a team as good as Detroit. However, it is your opinion so I hear you.

One of my favorite Suns. I remember when he was very young, maybe a rookie, and went into the game to cover Jordan. He played Jordan as well as I'd seen anyone play him. Great game.

There's a story that came out around that time where a teenage Finley, being from Chicago, attended one of Jordan's summer camps. He was the standout player. Jordan took notice and congratulated him on his play, then said, "I'll look forward to seeing in the NBA in a few years."

That game you mention was the first game either faced each other. It was when Finley was a rookie, and the Suns went on to win that game, being one of the few teams to do so that 95-96 season.

That game is enough to put a smile on my face right now.

The trade of Finley, Cassell for Kidd put the Suns back almost 10 years. They never won a series with Kidd as their PG (he wsa out for the Suns series vs. San Antonio in 2000 with a bum ankle) and they sold low after his arrest for assulting his wife, netting Marbury, a talent, but not nearly the talent of Kidd, who wasn't nearly worth two 20-point scorers. Anyways, I'm hijacking your thread.

Good luck...

That's right. I remember they mentioned that during the game. Fin was so good in that game, and was such a classy kid. Everyone here was talking about AC Green and Sam Cassell, and I told them to watch the young guy that got thrown in, because he was going to be the star of the team. I love being smarter than Mavs fans. :)

Cavs go up by six early, Spurs completely dismantle them from then on. Cavs cut the lead to within 15 in the third quarter.

PS: The Spurs won't let Lebron go to his right. The Cavs won't be able to stop Manu from going to his left.

I expect rust for several minutes, then, like in '05, Pop will call a "polite" time out and the rust will disappear.

Over the last few days the Spurs look and sound like they are in this to get what's theirs immediately. Clamp down defense, get Duncan rolling early, get the perimeter guys good looks. Show the Cavs, and the world, that this is the best team in the league.

I've got Spurs in 6, but I'll take it anyway they do it.
Duncan MVP.

PS: In '05 I was lurking here, too nervous to actually post. I've enjoyed being here, it's going to be even better celebrating with you guys instead of eavesdropping on you!

how can u say that lebron has nothing on duncan. If duncan were on the cavs and lebron was not, it would have been orlando W/ dwight howard all over again. Pay respect when its due. James is a better player all around than duncan any day of the week. Ur sleeping on the king and u will pay for that. Maybe after the cavs win tonight you will take them more seriously. My guess is when the spurs finally come to, it will be too late for them to recover.

LeBron a better all around player than Duncan? WTF are you smoking? Duncan actually plays defense. Rather well in case you didn't notice the All NBA defensive teams. LeBron is good, great even. But he's not in Duncan's league on both ends of the court. You better look up respect before you don't give any to Duncan.

And it was Detroit who woke up too late.

r u kiddding me. better on both ends of the floor. LOOK AT LEBRONS NUMBERS. duncan doesnt even compare. His defense will be non existant in this series. And lebron leads point differentials in all of the nba so id say that the d that he plays is good enough. You have no answer for a "real" superstar. Im talking about a guy who can make the shots, get boards, and make the passes to make his teammates around him better. Lebron avg over 30 against the spurs in his career & i can assure u that number isnt going to fold based on the tired effort of an old, undersized, soon to be overwhelmed bruce bowen. For u idiots that say spurs in five, come on the jazz got one. You all sound very cocky. This is definetly a series I can promise u that

i fully expect duncan to get his typical numbers. My point is that it will not be enough because he got his numbers in the last two times he faced the cavs & the spurs still lost. Also the cavs defense has really improved throughout the year especially in defending the 3. Cavs are #1 in the league in 3point D. I dont think san an will get any easy points.

Also the cavs defense has really improved throughout the year especially in defending the 3. Cavs are #1 in the league in 3point D. I dont think san an will get any easy points.
But yet the Cavs will get theirs against the best defensive team in the league? Guys that have no experience will torch a team full of it? Maybe the Cavs have gotten better, but the SPurs in the playoffs have been a completely different team

Well in the last five days, there has not been one single logical point made as to why I should be the least bit worried about the Cavs. Lebron James is a great player, no doubt, and he's going to be a tough cover. The chances of them even making a series of this are as close to zero as it gets. The Cavs and their fans had better pray for injuries, illness, or an act of God in order for them to even compete.

That said, good luck to both teams!

dbreiden83080

how can u say that lebron has nothing on duncan. If duncan were on the cavs and lebron was not, it would have been orlando W/ dwight howard all over again. Pay respect when its due.

TD has won 3 fucking titles and MVP's asshole and you are barking about respect for Lebron get the fuck out of here. How anyone can not respect Duncan with what he has done is beyond me, you need to do some homework on the subject.

Listen up your supporting CAST WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SCORE ON THE SPURS. Our D is too good and you have to worry about Tony and Manu plus Timmy killing you inside. Larry Hughes has to check Tony and he is hobbling around out there good luck with that. After the game tonight i am hope you shut up about the reg season games.

James is a better player all around than duncan any day of the week. Ur sleeping on the king and u will pay for that. Maybe after the cavs win tonight you will take them more seriously. My guess is when the spurs finally come to, it will be too late for them to recover.

Ok, won't be posting tonight, because I'll be at the Houston GTG. Can't tell you how nervous it makes me! Especially since we've got such a good playoff records with me blogging during games. Eek. But I'm still wearing the lucky clothes! And I'm going to be chatting with other Spurs fans/Spurstalk posters (just in person), so I figure it'll work out ok.

(if not, I'm not going to another GTG ever. :lol)

So. Have to say it now, get it in so we win.

Play strong, play hard, play smart. Be efficient. Pound the boards. Go inside early and often to pave the way for open jumpshots. Don't rely on jumpers. Make the offense work for you. Be quick and smart on D and make them work for everything.

I love Manu, and I'm glad he's so willing to come off the bench and all...but man, it just isn't right when they do the starting lineup, and he isn't a part of it :(

I just really hope we end this in 4 or 5 so we only have to hear Stan and Ya'll Ready for this only 1 more time on national TV.

That fucking shit is embarassing.
