View Full Version : I did not sleep last night - NBA finals were too dirty for my taste

Yes. I did not sleep. I decided to watch the NBA finals marathon since Saturday afternoon until now (Spurs 1999 Championship game 5 currently showing). This was the first time I could see all of them together so I decided not to sleep and watch it all.

I would love for this I'm about to post to be seen by as many sports reporters as possible. I think people are just forgetting stuff.

If you watch these games, they were all physical. The current D coverage the Spurs do is just about close to what any other team playing those finals was doing. The Bowen "dirty tactics" were used by most players not just a D specialists. I watched the Bulls finals and I'm astonished when Phil Jackson calls Bruce "Edward Scissorshands". It is just plain ridiculous. All his teams had 5 Bowens playing for him.

I don't think I need to extend myself on this subject as for further proof you just need to watch 1 game, then 1 game from the current spurs. Then you watch another final and then again anotehr playoff game from 2007 spurs and so on. You will get the idea pretty quickly. And I'm not even talking about the "bad boys". I don't this Bowen comes even close to that.

As a conclusion I believe some people out there just don't like the spurs being almost unbeatable so they just use cheap tactics to try to diminish their opportunities or downgrade them. If you watch Ginobili and Parker playing together and any other NBA final from the last 15 years you could see how good this spurs team is. I didn't see anything that effective in those positions at the same time in 15+ hours of watching basketball finals. Nothing that finesse, only single players like Jordan that were just much more than the rest of the team.

The other conclusion is that the Amare type of guy just became a little lady. They are just ladies, little whinny girls that can't take even 10% of the beating those old (and not so old) teams were taking. That says a lot where we are going right now.

So if you think the spurs are boring, dirty and don't have class then you haven't watched the last 20 years of basketball and everything you did during those years was just a dream.

So you, sport reporter out there, just shut the fuck up and do your job. If you need more info, watch a couple games. And if you are a Suns fan or any other fan currently in suffering mode, then you just didn't watch Barkley's 1993 team. Go and watch a game or 2 and come back clean from your collective brainwashing.

PS. Kudos to Karl for introducing the concept Manu is a flopper. You just can't back up now, loser.

Thats what happens when you are the dominant team. I remember quite well calling the lakers dirty on a regular basis when they were the dominant team in the league.

Yeah, that foul on Camby on Robinson with 5:30 to play would have been viewed as a potential flagrant today. The announcers didn't even give it a second thought.

That's the same move Camby makes now, except that now he actually swipes at the ball.

I had a nightmare last night that I had missed the game and then logged into ESPN.com and the Cavs had won. I was relieved when I realized it was still early Sunday morning. :lol

I have not watched all the finals but i did watch the series between Jazz and Spurs. I had heard about Bowen being a dirty player and i just didn't see it. I saw a good player playing hard.
Tim is just stunning - damn i'll be glad when he retires. :)
The Spurs took my team apart, with hard great basketball. I was at the games in Salt Lake and watched them all. The only bad point was the fans response to the Spurs after the game 4 loss by the Jazz. The Spurs did nothing to deserve that - I apoligize to all Spurs players and fans - I actually hear a Jazz fan say the Spurs should have quit driving the lane because the refs were calling the fowls in favor of the Spurs - gee quit doing something that works cause it works - go figure.
Anyway - they look unbeatable a great team led by a great coach.

Yeah, I caught a few games on and off yesterday and today and was thinking the same thing. Rodman elbowed his way through the Finals with the Bulls and Pistons. That Bulls-Sonics finals hand a few hard fouls in it. That Rockets Finals was pretty physical.

The point is, after every hard foul I witnessed, the commentators didn't say a thing.
