not really.

we play sound fundamental ball with smart defense and a fluid offense. it just looks old school cause of all the hot shot bullshit teams play now.

I think what gets me is the passing. It reminds me of the 80s celtics and lakers when were passing.

The Spurs can play in any era. So throwback applies...but I prefer the term winning basketball.

I wish I was alive in the 80's and had magical cable TV so I could have watched all those great games I missed. :depressed

And ESPN Classic doesn't do it for me.

Watching the Spurs sometimes makes me wish I was watching a team from the 80s.

Only because the Warriors would have a better chance to beat them.

I don't think you could consider the Spurs a throwback team, because the only time defensively based basketball was the league norm was in the nineties.

No, however defense centric styles were not the league norm. There have been pretty much every type of team out there that played in every era, but as far as popularity, it wasn't until the nineties that grind it out half court styles really dominated the league.
