Do you exchange gifts with your spouse?

Do you keep them a surprise or just ask them what they want?

Or do you nix the gift exchange all together?

I ask Lorie what she wants, we all make a wish list and then we also throw in a few suprises.

I usually just give my baby momma her child support that month.

We usually don't go too heavy on the gifts for each other...but I do ask her what she would like. I also (of course) supply the $$ for the kids to get her Christmas gifts.

We usually buy something big that we both want and then get something small.

Ask for what they want. Spend most to vast majority of your gift budget on that. Even if all of your surprises flop, at least they'll get one nice thing that they wanted. Buy some surprises though to create anticipation.

Most of the things we ask each other what we want, and we pick some things that we expect. But I try to throw in one good surprise each year. Or hide a present somewhere in plain sight... like the good jewelry in a stocking, or in an ornament on the tree.

It's all about getting that one moment when the jaw drops and nothing comes out for a moment.. ;)

It started out being all surprises, but the longer we're together, the more I'm asking him what he wants.. I'm running out of ideas and my hubby has a problem of running out and buying whatever it is he wants before I get a chance to get it for him... so now at least he knows not to go buy whatever is on his list, at least until after Christmas! :lol

Is this thread about presents or sex?

Ask them what they want.

Give them the main thing they want.

Throw in a few surprises.

That way if all your surprises flop they still get what they want.

???

Less of your kind would be a great gift for any woman.

Oh and you can annoy the hell out of Jim when you overtake him and his lame Jag with this 350bhp "family car"! (http://www.audiworld.com/news/04/s4avant/)

Slomo, that is going to be my car.

Right now, my car is doing fine. The Audi S4 Avant?

I had an earlier model a few years back, loved to annoy Porsche drivers on the highway :)

Shelly

No way, slomo. I hate the Avant even of it's an S4! Although, I did drive the S4 sedan and it is awesome, but the back seat is too small for my kids as they would be be pretty cramped back there in a few years. My husband my consider it since his balloon is up in August.

My neighbor has the same car as I do only his is the 6 speed and is chipped, which gave it 57 more hp. He let me drive it once and that thing flies. Sadly, it sits in his garage mostly.

p.s. Jim!!! Nice present!

And I do not want the stinkin DB. I want the Vanquish S V12. It is the fastest road car in the history of Aston Martin.

This sounds so funny now .... it's crazy how things work out. :wow

I don't remember anyone asking me what I want, and I know for a fact I've never said what I wanted out loud. :lol

Dick In A Box....

CubanMustGo
12-20-2006, 09:25 AM
It varies from year to year. Nothing too fancy or formal. This year we are giving each other a trip to our favorite B&B out in the country outside of Fredericksburg for New Year's. Last year she surprised me with one of those driving schools at Texas Motor Speedway - had the whole family in on it.

I'm blessed to have a spouse who focuses on the thought behind a gift rather than the amount of $$ spent. I hope she thinks she is similarly blessed. We don't get hung up on the gift exchange thing as a result.

We always exchange, hopefully, surprise gifts, and get something for the house--this year's household gifts came in May when her TV and the washer broke down on consecutive days and in a manner that would've cost more to repair than to replace; luckily it was just in time for the Memorial Day sales

The wife straight up tells me what she wants. I'm horrible at gift giving, I would have bought her a heating pad had she not steered me in the right direction.

I have no idea what she got me this year. She caught on to me logging on to the bank account and researching where she had been, so she went Randy Moss and paid straight cash homey this year.
