Giants star told grand jury he used clear substance, cream provided by trainer Greg Anderson, but believed they were flaxseed oil and arthritis balm (http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2004/12/03/BALCO.TMP)

I would cut half of Bond's HRs right out of the record books right now. He does not deserve to break the most cherished records in all of sports in no way shape or form. Barry cheated...cheaters do not deserve records...period.

It will be interesting to see how Bond's greatest apologist, timvp spins this.

I disagree. Let the guy keep them, but put asterisks on every one of his records. That way the issue will never fade into obscurity and Bonds will be tainted as long as the records stand.

And when Billy Crystal makes 73* (or 760*) in twenty years, another generation can learn all about the type of guy ol' Barry is.

In my lifetime....I have been guilty of driving while sipping on a Coors light...I am not proud of this...It was wrong...But you all know me. I should not have to explain any of this...I obviously went to a 7-Eleven & Abdul sold me the wrong stuff...Placing it in my ice chest & being partially inebriated already, I could not taste the difference...

Besides, if one careful examines the packaging, one will find a willful marketing deception design by the Coors light people to make their product look like Diet Coke....

I trust that this confession to the grand jury clears matters up and absolves me of any wrong doing so ALL OF US can get on with our busy lives...

Thank you...Sportcamper...

Jim...you have medical training...allegedly :) ......I understand what injected anabolic steriods can do but is this cream going to have the same effects?

What is so pathetic is that Bonds can’t even come clean...Nobody gets that buffed from steroidal creams...The guy was shooting up...Muscle & Bulk comes from pills & needles....Creams are used to boost testosterone levels...

At least Ken Cami & Giambi were forth coming...

This is all such a farce...Mark McGwire looked like he was going to “POP” during his home run rampage...Of Course they are doing steroids...

And the earth is round, and OJ killed two people & the WWE is scripted & 95% of the NFL has been doing steroids for 25 years....Why do we pretend that this is news?

Take a look at any athlete a year after they retire...Where did their muscles & bulk go?

No Mikey, anabolic steroids have to be injected. Topical cremes have no muscle building properties.

I want to know how all the "friends" that he introduced his trainer to knew they were taking 'roids, but HE didn't. I've never thought of Barry as stupid, only a cheater.

He does not deserve to break the most cherished records in all of sports in no way shape or form. Barry cheated...cheaters do not deserve records...period.

1. Suspend each player for 1 year, no pay. They are tested weekly during this period if they wish to resume their careers.
2. Revoke any and all awards these players have won: Gold Gloves, Silver bat, MVP, whatever.
3. Revoke any individual records already set by them. Consider their careers tainted, and no all time records reachable by them.

BTW, lest anyone think I have a vendetta against Bonds, I think Mac and Sammy are dirty, too. They just weren't involved in BALCO, so the odds of them getting caught are slim. If they are? Same treatment.

I followed b-ball for roughly 20 years, from the mid 70s to the mid 90s. The only legit chase of Maris' record I ever saw was George Foster and his 52 HR in the 70s. Fast forward to the mid to late 90s, and guys are getting jammed, hitting the ball on the handle, and it's going over the fence. Hello? McFly?

When all the cheaters are stripped away...McGwire and his obvious roid usage, Sosa and his corked bat and probably roid usage, ditto Albert Belle, Giambi and his roid usage, maybe even Griffey and his curious injuries that resemble those suffered by steroid users.....it will be determined that there was one guy that broke some of Babe Ruth's records in the 90's, that challenged or tied records set by Jimmy Foxx and Lou Gehrig, the greatest 1stbasemen of all time, that did no cheating whatsoever, who entered some of the most exclusive hitting clubs in history, like 3000 hits and 500 homers,....who did it with pure skill and grit, who did it by playing injured and in pain, who did it in a league where no one was hitting 70 home runs a season...who no one will ever question of drug use because of his size and his durability, because he is perhaps the smallest and lightest member of the 500 hr club, and one of the 3 most durable players in MLB history....but some of us already knew this...

I give you:

The most under-rated hitter in MLB history. And a guy who has been flat out robbed of a sense of achivement by Barry Bonds...

Keep in mind that before what 2003? Anabolic steroids were not an illegal substance by major league baseballs rules...

Now betting on your team to win will get you a life time ban....But mainlining in the dug out was not against the rules.... :lol

They may not have been an illegal substance in MLB but they were an illegal substance in the US in most cases...by default that makes them against the rules of MLB.

griffey used roids but saint palmeiro didn't? shut the fuck up whott

I didn't say for sure Griffey used roids, he doesn't look like he used them.....but it is odd how is body just fell apart and he started getting freak injuries like a lot of roid heads do isn't it? I mean he'd just be making a routine fielding play and tear his shoulder up?

I also had a lot of questions about if Sosa used them...I didn't think he did because he was so incredibly durable...but then all of a sudden he started going on the DL from sneezing...stuff like that starts happening when a guy is on roids and they get too strong for their own body..they start tearing themselves up in workouts and stuff.....See Canseco and McGwire and all their freak injuries.

I'd also like to make a point that roids aren't the only reason these guys put up the numbers...Only a few guys are going to be able to start jacking up 60 and 70 home runs from using them...I don't know that anyone else is going to get as much benefit from them as a guy like Bonds who has always had a ton of physical ability and a superb eye...

And then there are the guys who actually sucked worse after using them...like Reuben Sierra...who went from being a pretty good Clemente clone on offense to being muscle bound stiff who could barely move or swing the bat.

But Palmeiro definitely didn't use roids...viagra maybe...roids no...It's the swing...he's got the swing...if he used roids he'd have hit a triple crown.

then where are bonds' freak injuries?

maybe palmeiro just trains the same way bonds does

whottt

I don't think Bonds has used them for his entire career, in fact I used to defend him against those accusations..I used to just be grateful to Bonds for giving me a chance to see things I would otherwise never see.....but it's hard to ignore what we are hearing about him now coupled with the off season weight gain he had after 99 and 00...

I think he got the idea to use them after whitey, who also used them, pissed him off by hitting 70 home runs...and I think the first time he used them was after the 99 season.

I think if it hadn't been for McGwire Barry would have been too much of a narcissist to use them and risk his health...but whitey really fucking pissed him off..and he knew whitey was using them...so he said fuck it...If whitey's going to cheat his way to immortality I am going to do it to to show the superiority of the black athlete...and I'm gonna take fatboy down while I am at it....I now think Bonds has used them....he's been very careful about how he used them and the kind he used...and he hasn't been using them long enough to get the severe effects yet...

Palmeiro's numbers, while still awesome for a man after the age of 35, have been going down...Barry Bonds has been hitting career highs...And Palmeiro is not muscular...he's the same size as he was when he came into the league...Barry had a freak weight gain...besides...

No one raises their career batting average 8 points in their 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th seasons...Barry's a juicer...that and he moved into a park that suited his hitting.

The sad thing about Barry....Barry didn't need to use roids....he was a HOFer and one of the greatest ever without them....he shouldn't have tried to take the fatman down...it's impossible to do anyway...he'd have to win 97 games as a pitcher....
