I was listening to Dan Patrick spew his bullshit the other day on my flight back from San Antonio and this is what he had to say: "If Bruce Bowen was suspended for his knee to Steve Nash, there would have been no Robert Horry check on Steve Nash and no suspensions." Thats about the point I changed the channel and lost all respect for Patrick as an intelligent person, pretty much the same way I think of Suns fans now.

The NBA Finals draw a worldwide audience in excess of 100 million. It has seen meteoric growth in the past three years, from a mere 25 million who watched the 2004 Finals, virtually all of whom were in North America. Since there is no World Cup, European Cup, or Summer Olympic Games this year, it is possible that the NBA Finals between the San Antonio Spurs and Cleveland Cavaliers might be the most watched sporting event in the world for 2007.
However, it would not advisable for David Stern to go on the radio and tell Dan Patrick that he doesn't give a rat's ass what the American audience thinks.

Dan Patrick is a f#cking idiot. And he just cant except the fact that he got schooled by Stern a month ago about the Suns suspension issue. He had to drag that old dead horse up again an beat it some more.
Here's a tip Dan, Stern is a jerk but he is an intelligent jerk and you arent' going to talk him into a corner no matter how many times you try so give it up as it just make you look more stuped (if that's possible)
I did not hear this part but they did bring up my 16 team seeding process for the playoffs. Man i wish they would do that.

What the fuck is he talking about? Does he have some documented proof that the Suns would have brought in mega ratings. Lebron was suppossed to do that for this series so what is this shit about the Suns and Ratings. Newflash ratings were better when the Spurs played the Pistons in 05. They were only a little better than that a year later with Miami and Dallas. This is an NBA problem not a Spurs problem.

Yep. If people think that Bruce is "dirty," then they obviously never saw my namesake play. Reggie Miller had quite a bag of tricks (both on offense and defense) by the time he retired. Absolutely no player has ever accused Reggie of "playing dirty," becuase it was expected and understood that you have to play that way in the postseason. Come to think of it, MJ did most of the same things also, particularly the "step on opponent's foot during a jump shot" bit.

I don't think that's the argument. I think the argument is that if you think that who makes the Finals should be determined by which teams will bring in the most ratings or by which teams play the most exciting brands of basketball, you've essentially argued for the league changing to accommodate the entertainment aspect while foregoing the competition aspect. The playoff is determined by the winner in a competition -- not a popularity contest -- conducted in accordance with rules applicable to all teams. It seems, of late, that some would prefer that it not be handled that way -- that popularity should somehow be a factor in determining which teams play for championships.

By rule, Steve Nash should have been whistled for an offensive foul before Horry hit him for attempting to dribble between the defender and the baseline when there wasn't sufficient room. Fortunately the Spurs, while penalized the outcome of game 4 due to such an egregious error in officiating, they were able to overcome it by beating the Suns in game six despite missing a key role player.
And sad Suns fans make me happy. I don't care if Holt's wife is visiting David Stern daily for service. I'll take the championship to keep it away from Phoenix.

Patrick won't buy Stern's garbage and spin.
I listened to the interview and it sounded the other way around to me. Basically, Patrick kept coming at Stern with the same line of reasoning (rule should be changed, if Bowen had been suspended then Horry wouldn't have knocked Nash down). Stern listened patiently, then when he had enough, he told Patrick that he was reaching. He went on to say that when he brought up the idea of changing the rule, that resulted in Amare and Boris getting suspended, no one supported the idea.
To all of the Suns fans/apologist out there it's time to move on.
Everyone in the NBA knows the rule and it's consequences. It's a good rule. Players should not be allowed to leave the bench area. Anyone rushing to an altercation only makes it worse. If you need to blame someone, look at the two players from your team that made a bad decision.
Suns had everyone in a must win game 6 and lost.
When the Cav's made a run at the Spurs in Game 3, Pop spoke to the team about dealing with adversity. The Suns created this adversity for themselves and weren't good enough to pull themselves out of it. As long as the Suns fans/coaching staff plays the "woe is me card" they will never look at what they need to do to improve.
