The And -1, was what I loved. He never gives up and continues to compete. He makes the team that much stronger at the 5 spot.
We have an opportunity to be a stronger team in the next season.

He earned his spot, his name. First time Spurs players usually take at least 2 seasons to gain their confindence. Look at Horry, Finley... heck, even Manu.

Spurs will be older next year as Horry, Finley and probably Oberto will be back. Now they need to develop Butler and White.

Something about those Argentinian players coming up big when it matters...

No matter what happens from here on out, I will always love Fab as a player. Like I love Stephen Jackson, Malik Rose etc for being big parts in a Spurs championship.

Peter Vecsey said after the game that he knew Pop would go to the Argentines in the 4th quarter. They just win the Olympics. Team Argentina (Manu and Oberto) scored 18 of the final 23 points in the game for the Spurs. "Immediately after the game, England gave back the Falklands to Argentina."

What happened to Oberto starting for one game in the playoffs and then Horry getting the starts after that?

You are trying to say you voted for Oberto before you voted against him? :smokin

The way Fabricio has been steady for us this postseason is just mindblowing. Heck, he wasn't half the player he is now during the regular season. He was really very solid and it was a very welcome surprise considering that our greatest concern coming into this season was our bigs.

yeah, they donīt pay him enough to show up in EVERY GAME.
thatīs why He only shows up in big ones only.
Lets see he made $2.5 M this season, and he earned his money in about 10 playoffs games, so He is making about $250,000 a game. Not bad Fabri.

I like the nickname "Little Fundamental" for Oberto. He really plays well with Duncan.

Dartherus
06-15-2007, 10:50 AM
To the fans who doubt about Scola's potential NBA impact....Remember Oberto....and think of Scola as an Oberto (same or perhaps even better level of Basketball IQ and fundamentals) with better mid range shoot, better post moves, younger, faster and more athletic, with more vertical (remember the huge Block against Jermaine O'Neal in '02 World Cup if you think he can't jump or he's slow).....

In short, I like Oberto, he's great IMO, just think Scola is an improved version of him.

I truly don't undeerstand why could there be people having doubts about Scola.

cheguevara
06-15-2007, 10:53 AM
no doubt Scola is about 3x better than oberto.

Oberto and manu need to go into Pops office and tell him "sign Scola and we shall repeat"

Oberto really played great basketball during the whole playoffs.
He was fantastic for us and he definitely earned the acclaim of unsung hero!!!

We would not have advanced in the playoffs without him (think of how big he came up against Utah with all of his rebounding- plus his great court awareness, cutting to the basket at the right time, his spot on rotations (unlike Elson)).

Argentina vows Falklands return

Argentine President Nestor Kirchner has said Britain won a "colonial victory" in the Falklands War that was unacceptable in the eyes of the world.

Mr Kirchner was speaking on the 25th anniversary of the end of the conflict over the islands in the south Atlantic, that Argentina calls the Malvinas.

Britain retook the islands on 14 June 1982, two and half months after the UK territory was invaded by Argentina.

Mr Kirchner vowed the islands would return by "peaceful means".

Some 255 British servicemen, more than 650 Argentines and three islanders were killed during the war.

No commemorations

"The Malvinas are Argentine and they will return to Argentina by peaceful means," President Kirchner said in Buenos Aires.

He said that Britain "may have won the battle because it's a world power but they will never win by reason or justice".

Unlike in Britain, no major commemorations were held in Argentina on 14 June.

The ceremonies in the UK centred at the Falkland Islands Memorial Chapel in Pangbourne, near London.

War veterans were joined by the Queen, Prime Minister Tony Blair and Baroness Thatcher, who as the then prime minister dispatched a British naval task force to the Falklands.
