I watched every game and to me Duncan had a bigger impact on the series and played better. If you think it's all about points then fine. But duncan's overall play to me trumped parker's scoring. His job on the boards and his overall precense defensively has been passed over for a guy who scores and who's defense isn't even comparable.

And even statistically, duncan beats parker ther. More rebounds, more assits, more blocks, more steals, better ft%. The categories parker is better in is Points and fg%.

TD struggled offensively the last two games. It's that simple; the Finals MVP has nearly always been an offense-first award.

Congrats to TP, who deserved the honor.

Parker won 3 out of the 4 games.

parker wins by default. stats wise and the short series, its a good sell.

Parker was more assertive on offense, taking more shots, scoring more points and doing all of it at a higher clip. That's what matters to the people who vote. That, and flash (as evidenced by TD and Bruce not getting much consideration or none at all). Everything else becomes worthless

Parker had a good game basically every game, Duncan really only had 2. So Parker gets it.

You answered your own question.

Why did Billups win over Ben Wallace in 2004?

Same deal.

Billups was clutch, a playmaker and also a beast on defense. Ben Wallace was only a beast on defense, and did not even cover TD one on one.

Parker won 3 out of the 4 games.
Bullshit. If Timmy didn't do what he has done, Tony could score 40 ppg and Spurs would be beaten anyway.

Spurs knew Parker would be MVP. Duncan would have trouble with a lengthy Varejao and Ilgauskas while Parker would drive around an old Snow, a hobbled Hughes, and a noob in Gibson. Plus Parker wouldnt spend energy defending the 3, while Duncan has his hands full down the paint with LBJ and Big Z.

Bullshit. If Tony didn't average that kinda number in scoring while doing it efficiently, the Spurs will be beaten anyway, since the margin of winning in each games were not bigger than the difference beetween Tony's reg season scoring AVG vs post season AVG.

do you believe that we can't win against the Cavs without TD?
Without Parker I'm pretty sure we could have a chance to win against The Cavs but I'm not sure if we could win the series without Duncan.
Parker deserves The MVP but the defend was the key of our team and TD is the key of our defend.

I'm with Montengrino. You could just as easily argue that taking away TD's rebounds, points, assists and blocked shots would result in a loss each game.

It was a dead heat after three games, but Tony won it in the first half of Game 4.

I'd agree that Duncan's contributions to the Spurs' Finals sweep were fairly underrated. I understand why Parker won the MVP award, but I would have voted for Duncan.

Duncan should win MVP every year and win finals MVP every time the Spurs are there.

We all fucking know that. Tim Duncan knows it. Tony Parker knows it.

That said, Parker did exactly what everyone's been riding him for in virtually every big game or series in his career until this year. The Spurs may not win without Duncan, but they wouldn't have won this year without Parker. He earned that trophy. Congrats to him.

Duncan got us here Tony went through the door first.

Basically Tony led the team in scoring shot a high percantage the series was a breeze so they gave it to him. Tim needed a monster offensive game in game 4 to have a good shot at it and he did not play well so Tony deserved it by a little bit over him. In a sweep it really means very little. If this series had gone 6 or 7 it would have been Duncan because he would have needed to do more for the Spurs to win.
