One of the ESPN talking heads was talking about how the spurs need to get younger and have two guys in europe to help them do this, Scola and Mahnimi.

How is he doing over there? The fact that media folk here know who he is makes me think he had a breakout year. Anyone in french land know what he is looking like now?

I would say that Javtokas is a lot further along than Ian.

For the most part, he didn't play much or play well this year. But hopefully he'll be on the Spurs summer league teams so we can look at him.

Sanikidze should be brought over to summer league.

Along with Ian, Jackie Butler, James White, Aaron Miles.

Should be interesting.

Vegas will be worth going to even if the Spurs team sucks.

But it doesn't look like they will suck at all.

Maybe Presti will take him for the Seattle pick. Spurs can throw in Beno and the Russian stiff.

The rumor here in France are that Mahinmi will join the Spurs next season and go to NBDL. Don't know if it is true

Plus we have three draft picks this year that will probably all spend time with the team. With a good floor leader like Miles, a good athletic wing in White, rebounding and shotblocking in Mahinmi and low post scoring in Butler we'll be fairly complete. Should be fun to watch as our scrubs beat up on their scrubs!

The first couple of guys who may play in the summer league should be known by next week as the first camp starts at June 16 and lasts till June 19. The only player trying out I know is a Austrian PF who plays for Reggiana in Italy. Afaik quite athletic, young and defensive-minded. Tried out for Denver the past two seasons but this year the Spurs directly asked for him.

First test for Mahinmi (and Spurs fan) : the next Eurobasket in September.
But, it's true, he says he will go to San Antonio this year.

he seems like a bust to me

everyone is high on him, yet he cant even start on his own team in france or put up numbers we should be expecting from him...

bring in scola and javtokas seriously, we are in winning mode not wait for the future

It's not a recent pciture.

Some picture from the last game he has played (mid May) :

Mahinmi is the number 14, white jersey.
Number 11 is Aaron Miles who will play with Spurs summer league.
Number 19 is Melvin Sanders (I wouldn't be surprised to see him in this year summer league team).

It's the third quarter of a french league game played in april. Mahinmi enters in the game at the 2 min mark. It was one of Mahinmi's best game of the season (at the 6:30 mark there is a nice little move ;) ).

I wonder how much weight he has put on? Maybe in the summer league they'll tell us a more accurate measurement.

On the dijonpremiere link Bruno posted, he doesn't look half bad. He's active, shows well on screens, and he sure loves that drop step from the right block for a dunk. It's hard to tell what his limit is, but he's not a stiff. Still, I don't see him here next year due to a roster crunch, but we'll see.

There was an article about him a few weeks ago on this site.

It says that he'll be partaking in a 3 day long rookie and veteran camp in San Antonio which starts on the 17th of June.

Vegas will be worth going to even if the Spurs team sucks.

But it doesn't look like they will suck at all.

Did you see the Spurs are only play in the beginning of Vegas? I think their last game is the 11th. I'm guess that is because they will play in RMR - but those teams haven't been announced.

Rats, I'll only get to see three games. Eh, more time for gambling and debauchery.

When will they announce the summer league schedule?

Vegas schedule :
7/6 vs Phil 1:00 PM COX
7/7 vs Clev 5:00 PM COX
7/9 vs Bos 1:00 PM COX
7/10 vs GSW 5:30 PM T&M
7/11 vs Minn 1:00 PM COX

RMR schedule : 7/13 to 7/20 with not games on 7/15
Jazz, Sixers, Bulls and Spurs will play the RMR.

French NT start on July 23rd. Mahinmi should be able to play both at Vegas and Utah.
