even putting aside the spurs' struggle defending the championship the year after they win it all, i think only the celtics have won a title after sweeping their opponent for a championship.

We need to figure out a way to convince the Spurs that it is 2009 next year.

In other news...bears take craps in the woods.

But here is the key.

1. No Lakers (like in 04)
2. Healhy duncan (unlike 06 and 00)
3. Mavs still choke.
4. Suns still dont play defense.

1. i give you that, but utah, golden state, nuggets and pistons are no pushovers
2. you point to two examples to how easily this changes
3. they didn't in game 7 last year
4. everyone was impressed by the suns' d this year and we weren't exactly killing their offense.

That stat only applies to legitimate sweeps, though. This was an asterisk sweep, Cleveland was cheated out of at least one game by the league.

Didn't we break a few history firsts this year?

Until this year, the Spurs had never won the title without winning their division.

a sweep is a sweep is a sweep.

After Hakeem the Dream (2rings) and the Roxs swept Shaq(then 0 rings) and the Magic in 94-95...Shaq cried..but now he has 4 rings(dble that of dream)....So that means Lebron will go on to win 8 rings...double that of TD..all that will start in say 6 years from now. :smokin :madrun :rolleyes :elephant :clap

It's not just the Pistons who accomplished it, either:

1959 Boston Celtics d. Minneapolis Lakers, 4-0
1960 Boston Celtics d. St. Louis Hawks, 4-3

im kinda worried how the spurs vets are gonna be like next year. i keep thinking about miami. after they won it in 06, it seemed like a lot of their vets who signed w/ miami just to win a championship became satisfied with that one championship and just stopped playing. plz dont suck barry, finley, vaughn, plz dont suck

After every championship, SA players would head out and do international competition, this is huge because it only gave them about a month of rest before the next season. The next year was always marred by fatigue, turned anckles and such.

The difference now is that none of our players will partisipate in international competition and will have much more rest going into next season.

This is our year to repeat.
