Youve obviously never had to come out here to Arizona as a Spurs fan and attend a Suns game. People throw whatever they can at you without the security giving a fuck, yell the dumbest shit at you and the spurs, and display their limited basketball knowledge with comments like "TONY PARKER YOU SUCK AT BASKETBALL BECAUSE YOURE FRENCH!" All in all its a pretty fun experience.

Well, that's good. As a Mavericks fan, after Roy Tarpley, 11-71, Quinn Buckner, Toni Braxton and now the last two playoff runs, we mirror the psyche of our team. I've lately taken to not trimming my fingernails or shaving, walking around all day in a bathrobe and wearing kleenex boxes for slippers.

I live in AZ, and I was flying to San Jose a few weeks ago. This was when the Spurs were playing the Suns, the day of game 3 in SA. At the gate next to mine, a plane landed, and people started walking into the airport. I noticed one....two...three....ten people wearing Spurs jerseys? I stop one guy who walked over to where I was (he was going to SJ, too- just changing planes in PHX). I asked him if the plane came from SA, of course, he said yes. I told him that's a lot of silver and black to be here in AZ. His reply was "that's the way it should be."
I pulled out my Duncan jersey out of my bag, and said, "Yes it is. Thanks for bringing the reinforcements!" :)

Its weird because in the 90's everyone and their mom had a Bulls jersey, and no one ever took umbrage in any part of the country.
Why can't the Spurs be respected universally like that? I mean for better or worse this team is the Bulls of this decade.

I am a Spurs fan, from SA, and I now live in Scottsdale. I have lived in both places, and I can tell you that each has advantages over the other in different ways. Demograpically, it's the same place.
Traffic is good in spots, and bad in spots in both places. No way does PHX or SA have worse traffic than LA or Chicago.
I'd take SA's weather over PHX, but only because you can't grow grass (or tomatoes) here in AZ without having a $200/mo water bill.
Good jobs are easier to come by in Phoenix than in SA. There's more industry here. Then again, including Austin in the debate negates that somewhat.
For families with children, schools are better in Texas. Hands down. No contest.
It is WAY cheaper to live in Texas- not just the taxes, but also the cost of housing and food is cheaper.
SA= Spurs (3 rings) PHX= Suns (0 rings) :lol
All things considered, if I could move back to Texas, I would, but that's not possible now for me. I will just have to settle for "business trips" to Austin, ironically always scheduled around Spurs games. :)

My aunts were in Vegas a a couple of weeks ago. While there they made a drive down to the Grand Canyon. They were wearing Spurs championship Ts and ran into Suns fans that kept saying the Spurs sucked.
My aunts just looked at them and told them "Say what you want, they're the champions."
Can't argue with that. And then, to add injury to insult, one of my aunts said to them as they were about to walk away, "And guess what, the Spurs will beat the Suns again next year."
The scoreboard argument is such an awesome weapon. There's no way, no how it can be defeated.

I work with an older Spurs fan (he's about 35 years older), and we have absolutely no problem discussing things in a rational manner. I don't understand why anyone would treat the fan of another team like crap, unless they antagonised them in the first place.
Spurs fans, Lakers fans, Mavs fans, I can have perfectly level-headed, insult-free conversations with all of them. Why is it so hard?

Seeing as how the Suns fan tried to pick the argument with my aunts, I don't see anything wrong with what they did.
If you want to pick a fight, be prepared to have your ass handed to you. That's exactly what happened.
Say what you will, if you say the Spurs suck, be prepared to eat this argument, 2007 NBA Champs.
Can't argue against it because it's the best argument you can make, especially when the Spurs beat YOUR team doing it.
If the Spurs suck, and they're the champs, then what does that say about your team as well as the rest of the league?
Again, scoreboard is such a lovely argument.
