I'm sure he'll be gone, but this cat would be perfect!

This is the main guy that I think the Spurs should try to trade up to get. I doubt it will happen, but it would be very nice.

I know the doubt is there, but is it feasible to think the Spurs could get up there without giving up every trade nugget (Beno, Barry, Scola, multiple picks)?

I think Brewer would probably go before Acie (Brewer 8-12, maybe?).

Brewer will definitely go before Acie, I know Boston fans are clammoring for him as early as #5, and I can't see him below #12. Are the trade nuggets we have even something that teams in this range would be interested in? Maybe Scola, POSSIBLY Beno if a GM hasn't watched basketball in 2 years, but that could be it. I think it would be just as effective to try and get into the low teens and hope Jeff Green is around.

No, I can't think of a scenario that would allow that. But hey, everytime I buy a lotto ticket, I imagine what I'd buy, so I'll imagine Brewer in silver-n-black too :lol

Outside of Oden and Durant, this guy is probably the most ready to come in and help win a championship next season for the Spurs. Problem is it'd be impossible to trade up high enough to get him. Spurs simple don't have the ammo unless they want to include a member of the Big Three :lol

yeah its a shame GMs are enamored with brent barry, Beno Udrih, and Scola.

Alas, trading all our assets would leave us 10-15 spots shy of getting him...

What's funny is that I was reading in the Bucks forum from people who saw him workout with Milwaukee and they didn't want him :lol They weren't impressed at all.

Any word on why the Bucks weren't impressed?

Also are there any teams in the top 6 that would be willing to trade down with the Spurs?

The only team that high that I've read has been shopping the pick is Boston at #5, but not a chance in hell do we have what it takes to get that pick.

They would rather trade with the devil before dealing with the Spurs. They've never gotten over losing the Spurs for nabbing Duncan in the lottery back in '97, when they had the most ping pong balls.

If he gets past the top six, there's a good chance he won't get past Minny at 7. McHale reportedly has a huge man-crush on him.

Yeah I remember reading that they were offering San Antonio everything they had for the #1 pick that year.

"Brewer looked AWFUL. He had no handles and he couldn't score one on one against Lojewski and Landry. His defense was good, but the kid is clearly going to be a project on offense. Also I don't think he has the size to be a 3, he is definitely a 2. I really can't see how he could guard the big 3's like James or even Al Harrington. Also he is listed @ 6'9 but Landry @ 6'7 looked taller than him.

I was really a pro-Brewer guy prior to this workout, but he did not distinguish himself at all against these potential 2nd rounders."

Brewer is the guy that the Suns want at #5 if they can pull off the Shawn Marion trade and get the pick from Boston.

What's the status on those trade talks?

Who else is Boston talking to, Seattle and Detroit?

I've heard they're also talking to the Wolves for some sort of Garnett+Contract for #5, Jefferson, Green, Ratliff, possibly Wally for cap. Highly unlikely, I know, but its the first KG trade Id really think about if I were McHale

Hell yeah...I'd love to see Brewer on the Spurs...he's awesome...he has the potential to be another superstar, IMHO.

I think Brewer is a tremendous player, he is going to be great in the NBA and looks like he could develop into a defensive stopper.

But they would have to trade way up to get him, he will go in the top 10 I think.

Dark horse pick?

Watch out for Nick Young, USC.....I guarantee he is going to turn out better than a lot of guys drafted before him.

My team of course will likely crap their pants (again) and draft Nick Fazekas or Josh McRoberts, whichever is least athletic.

Brewer = possible successor to Bowen???

Brewer = possible successor to Bowen???

He's a good defender already, no doubt, McHale was actually overheard by some T-Wolves fan likening him to Bowen, but he'll probably turn out better than Bruce on the offensive end. There's a video of him working out with the grizzlies on nba.com somewhere; T-Wolves fans are saying he's pretty good, so the workout with Milwaukee was probably just a bad one.

Found the clip; it includes Acie Law and Nick Young.: http://broadband.nba.com/cc/playa.php?content=video&url=http://boss.streamos.com/wmedia/nba/nbacom/allaccess/brewer_workout_070618.asx&video=blank&nbasite=nba

Absolutely, right after we trade Tony Parker to get the top 5 pick we'd need to draft him.

Would anyone trade Bowen, Beno, Barry, Scola plus cash or picks to Atlanta for their number 3?

I love this guy. Even if his offense isn't fully developed, the fact that he is more than a willing defender makes him attractive to what the Spurs do. It's all wishful thinking, unless the Spurs find some way (or some sucker) to trade up with.
