i'm hoping for mcdyess and walton, knowing full well it likely won't happen.

Draft a long SF, draft a backup PG, go after Nocioni, hopefully sign him, and go after Walton and McDyess.

You say "if" as there's a possibility it might not happen.

Trust me. This whole "Presti as Sonics GM" is just CIA Pop organizing a trade of Beno, Barry, Scola and Mahinmi for Durant.

Nocioni, Pietrus, Walton, Barnes, Hill, MyDyess.

I'd like the Spurs to sign at least one of them.

Nocioni, a solid backup point guard, a forward for the future and a decent assistant coach (if Carlisimo leaves).

do something with scola (bring him in or trade him) and draft a backup point or a big guard that can shoot lights-out.

Mr. Body
06-22-2007, 06:12 PM
Get value for Scola, either on the team or an asset in return. Get rid of Beno. Ensure the team is better in 90 days than they are right now.

Good question:

There are two scenarios:

Scenario #1
Additions:
Sign a FA SF (Posey or Pietrus)
Draft a backup PG (Pruitt, Koponen)

Subtractions:
Beno (trade chip)
Barry (trade chip)
Scola (trade chip)

Scenario #2
Additions:
Draft a SF/SG type (Al Thornton, Morris Almond)
......dare I say trade up for Corey Brewer
Draft a backup PG (second round)
Sign a McDyess or Nocioni

Subtractions:
Beno (trade chip)
Barry (trade chip)
Scola (trade chip)

Draft Zabian Dowdell. Sign Scola. Sign and trade Mickael Pietrus for Barry+future 2nd rounder. Trade Beno to the Cavs for a future 2nd rounder. And I hope Butler shows some of his potential and moves into the starting lineup.

C BUTLER/OBERTO/ELSON
PF DUNCAN/SCOLA/HORRY
SF BOWEN/WHITE
SG MANU/FINLEY/PIETRUS
PG TONY/DOWDELL/VAUGHN

Presti doing a fleecing of the Sonics and trading Durant to the Spurs in exchange for a 6 pack of beer, or since it's Seattle, a 4 pack of Starbucks double shot espresso.

Then he rips off the his suit to revel a Spurs jersey underneath.

Could happen.......

Does anyone think Beno to the Cavs for Eric Snow would be a bad idea? He's not that good, but he's a good floor leader and a smart player.

Contracts don't match. Beno makes about 900K and Snow makes about 6milllion.

i think it would be terrible. the guy is too old to do much defensively and has no offense. plus, did you see the clip of game 4, with snow trying to hype up his team? no one was looking at him or paying attention. i think it was for a reason: it's hard to be much of a floor leader when you provide so little.

I figured that would be a problem but I didn't think Snow made that much. Damn, that's not a good contract at all.

If they made about the same, or if the trade can be fixed by a matter of cash considerations I'd do it.

Who says I'd even describe draft day? I don't follow college ball. Even if Pop drafts a PG, I have a hard time picturing him giving the guy the back-up job right out of bed.

Oh also.. to answer the question.... more Argentines. The more the merrier. Nocioni, Scola, Hermann, whoever. Hell drag Pepe Sanchez' butt out of whatever Spanish league team he plays for and have him be our backup PG. (Dude was amazing during the last WCs).

Bad offseason: Mickael Pietrus. Ick.

Make the team better and in the best possible position to win in '08.

Let's face it, if the team had made some of the moves I though were prudent last summer or many of the moves espoused on here there would be no championship celebration right now.

Personally, I don't want to see the Spurs reincarnate the Argentine Olympic team. Just get a couple of good, solid, young athletes that are unselfish, have a desire to defend and are coachable.

As for Pietrus, he would be just as good a fit at the SF position as anyone else not names James Posey. The beauty of it is that he could step in and play right immediately. He's already a solid defender and a decent rebounder.

The Spurs absolutely must identify someone who can gradually begin to assume some of the duties at this position. While, White may be THE long term answer at the SF, Pietrus can contribute immediately. He would be a suitable transitional SF option while White continues to develop.

Draft Bellineli, re-sign Oberto, get Pietrus/Barnes and get Grant Hill for extra cheap.

I would say moving up into the teens in the draft and signing McDyess would be ideal. I dont bother playing amateur talent scout so i dont have any draft pick specifically in mind but i do have faith in our FOs ability to scout.

I thought about it, and even though it's over, I'm going to tell my wife about the affair.

Normally, I wear protection, but then I though "When will I ever be in Haiti again?"

Spurs swing a deal to land JJ Redick and Battier to replace Barry and Bowen.

I know it's not possible or probable, but it's my dream off season.

Nathan Explosion

Getting Nocioni would be the best move imo, other than swinging a monster deal that fleeces the Lakers by getting Kobe without losing Parker, Duncan or Gino.

Trying to get Nocioni will give us a good, solid defender at the 3/4 spot (in a small ball scenario) and also some more toughness in big games.
