Superior athleticism combined with far too often low basktball IQ.
Can Elson raise his hoop smarts and thus solve our problem of a good big alongside Duncan? That way whether Fabs stays or goes, whatever.

Spurts of great plays, but way to many dumb fouls and out of positions. Can Elson flourish in the 2nd year?

They call it "IQ" for a reason. Either you have it or you don't. Elson has some great athleticism, but put him up there with Nazr in the basketball smarts department.

He stuffed his brain with too many languages and didn't leave enough for basketball. That's his problem. Somehow he needs to forget some of those crappier languages and free up some disk space.

I'll give him the Charles Barkley classification:

The answer is NO....give Butler a chance to fill his shoes.

The only way Butler doesn't take significant minutes from Elson this year is if he spends more time at Taco Cabana than he does in the gym.

Not at his age.

Maybe after his second year in the sytem he will get it, Oberto sucked ass the year before last, and he ended up getting it this last year, even at his age

Not accurate- Oberto understood the Spurs schemes very quickly. He was adjusting to the NBA.

Elson's rotations were getting slightly better toward the end of the season, but still subpar. I doubt he'll get much better.

The question we should really be asking is whether Jackie Butler will improve during his second year in the system...

you can always get better physically and technically, but there´s no way you can get smarter tham what you already are.
So I guess Elson wont get any smater tham what he is already to raise his BBIQ.
Hopefully he wont look that bad and lost in the court tham this past season. And that would be just about it.

Elson's IQ is maxed out.

He is what he is.

An energy off the bench, change of pace big.

Butler >>>>>>> Elson

Look for Elson to return with confidence.
He will improve every stat upcoming season.
Yes while playing in silver and black.
Not saying this as a homer, but as a person who is interested in important people's mindsets regarding a specific issue. In this case it's Pop and Francisco.

Elson will never be a smart player or a great nba player but he should be at least slighty better next year. The more he will play in Spurs system the better he will be.
He should be able to be next year an average backup center and despite the ST hate about him, he wasn't that bad this year.

Elson upped his play in the better part of the season though. You could tell he is learning, even if it's very slow.

What the fuck are they paying Butler for if he's not going to crack the rotation in two years? The plan was that Elson could step in immediately while Butler develops.
