Comments on the trade between Orlando and Houston for cash/pick.
The deal: This is the second straight year that Houston has acquired a second-round pick from Orlando. The Magic picked Lior Eliyahu a year ago, then traded his draft rights to Houston for cash. Houston had already traded its 2007 second-round pick -- No. 56 -- to Milwaukee in a deal two years ago.

Houston will take whoever the regression model tells them is best. Likely the 6'2" tall power forward who was 3rd string on his collegiate team and yet ended up with 5.3 steals per 48 minutes.

What I want to know is how much cash is pick #54 worth? Anybody have any details?
I have heard that Pheonix got the maximum $3,000,000 cash consideration for the late 1st round pick it sold a couple of drafts ago.

Thoughts on Houston Sports talk radio are that the Rockets intend to trade up and in fact have a completed deal provided the draft goes a certain way. The speculation is they bought the 54th pick as an additional deal sweetner for whomever they are dealing with.

Not an official trade, but the Nets reportedly are offering the Pacers Richard Jefferson, Nenad Krstic, and Jason Collins for Jermaine O'Neal.

The Rockets want to move into the 26th slot.
They love Glen Davis out of LSU.

They already have the 26th slot. Do you mean they want to move up? If they have fallen in love with Glen Davis, I would advise against - There aren't a lot of mocks that have Davis going before then.

My bad Pad, you're correct.
However, it is rumored that LA and Houston are attempting to complete a trade to send Head and the 26th pick for Cook and the 19th pick.
Yes, the Rockets think highly of Glen Davis.
But, if not trade goes down, the Rockets are also trying to position themselves in hope of landing Sun Yue.

How does that trade help the Celtics? Allen is just shooter nothing else don't they already have on in Paul?
It's a great trade for Seattle not for Boston.
boston was one of the worst offensive teams in the league last year. this trade helps boston a lot. better to take an all star than an unknown. who would you rather they have taken?

It's a great trade for Seattle not for Boston.at least now we just have to hear Ray Allen whine twice this year instead of 3 times when we play each other. Ainge is GM of the year already. Now they're going to have 2 top players(Pierce) whine how bad their team sucks.

The New York Knicks just traded Channing Frye and Steve Francis to the Portland Trail Blazers for Zach Randolph, Dan Dickau and Fred Jones.
....Steve Francis knows he can't always shoot, right? Like, did they tell him that before they traded him?

Great trade for New York... Not sure what Portland gets out of it other than a little less pressure in the rotation. Surely they could have done a little better.
Fuck, i wish the spurs could have gotten Belinelli.

Ray Allen and Pierce will pose matchup problems for most teams. Both are good perimeter scorers.

The Ray Allen trade was solid. You get a damn good player and give up a bunch of scrubs.
And Zach Randolph matured a lot last year and wasn't a virus the way he has been in the past. Thats a hell of a deal for the Knicks.
the point is, he's not a virus like dude was claiming.
"virus" doesn't necessarily mean in the locker room. The fact that everyone talks about his character issues/or just his issues in general isnt exactly something you want from your "star"/highest pair player.

I don't see how Randolph and Curry can play on the court at the same time. Both are atrocious on Defense and both operate in the low post. I know Francis was a bit of an odd take for the Blazers, but Frye should fill out that young front line in a promising way....

Exactly! Once again Isaiah is the idiot.
And the Allen trade was good for Boston. Pierce can slash, Allen can shoot, and both will work well off Jefferson. Boston's long-term problems remain, but it's better than I thought they'd do. And if it doesn't work out, they'll be able to trade Allen and/or Pierce for quite a bit. Best move Ainge has made in... ever?

I just can't believe they gave up Delonte West....
He may not have been a pure PG, but he was clearly the best guy for the job and he was a good leader on the court. Rondo and Telfair will do okay, I'm sure, but losing West will certainly hurt them.
On the flipside....with West, what is to become of Ridnour/Watson? Those are two very capable PGs and West adds another. Maybe they'll just play West as a SG...
