I hate when I do someone a favor and they don't wave to acknowledge it.

If its a women and they don't wave I toss the ole tongue flick and show me your tits sign. This way they feel real uncomfortable or are pulling over for a little road sex. Either way I win.

If its a man I promptly raise my tire iron until they get the picture.

I always do.

I've lived on both coasts and found that West Coast people are friendlier drivers. They'll let you in, they'll wave when you let them in. When merging they always follow the "boy-girl" rule. Let one car in, then go. It makes it easier to drive because you know what people are going to do.

The East coast is a whole different story. I've seen three cars go through a stop sign together. The last 2 figure the first guy stopped so they all get to go!
And you'll wait forever if you think someone will let you in. You've got to take it or you're not merging.
And they'll never wave at you for letting them in. They think they've got it coming.

By the way, my West is: Seattle, Southern and Northern California.
My East is: Rhode Island, NY, Mass.,NH, Conn., Florida.

I do.

And I believe that if you let someone in and they don't wave back, you have the right to get in behind them, get them loose and run them into the wall. :)

I always wave and always let one car in; sometimes a second car, but never if it's an impatient a**hole. My eastcoast experience isi n the DC-Baltimore corridor and I found that drivers were surprisingly patient and cooperative. Cuz if they aren't, no one is going anywhere!

The tint on a lot of cars is so dark you can't tell if ppl wave or not. Yeah, I wave on the rare occasion when Esmerelda Excursion actually lets my Civic in front of them.

I stop immediately and get out of my car to personally thank them face to face. Waving is antisocial and lazy.

I used to wave, but the rear window of my SUV is tinted so you can't see. I could wave or flip them off and they'd have no clue. I think happy thoughts for them, if that counts for anything.

I always wave and probably go overboard to make sure they see me waving. "Mommy what's that crazy lady in the car in front of doing?" But when I let someone in & they don't wave I take notice of whether or not it's a young driver. usually it is in my experience. I just think how I'd smack my kid if she ever cut in and didn't thank someone.

I either wave, flash my hazards, or throw a brick out the window. No wait...

I wave. I am more tolerant of somone cutting me off IF they used their turn signal (indicator, for all of the foreign posters) before they cut on over.

You guys are jerks. Don't expect people to wave, you let people in for the sake of being nice. It's like people expect praise for their actions. The other day I sneezed, I didn't hear the bless you (and hence my thank you didnt exist) and got an earful.

Stop being weak. Expect no thanks and expect no wave ins, you'll be better off in life and less bitter.

I dont wave

My truck is bigger than most of the cars on the road, so no need to wave.

So the moral of this thread is: only do something kind for the betterment of society if there is proper recognition involved.

I always do, and its a good practice to at least let one car in when in traffic. I thought this was just a Texas thing. I have gone out of state and some places just dont give a fuck.

spursfan09

I only let people cut in for the sake of having good karma later so when I need to cut in, I will be let in. I don't need a wave, but sometimes I do wave if I'm let in.

But I never cut anyone a break on the road. People piss me off too much, I swear people really show off their stupidity when driving.

People who do not use blinkers to get over will not be let in front of me at all.

WRONG: It's a matter of manners, good ones! As I stated in my post I let the person in either way. If they don't wave then I just take notice of what age they are to see if they're a teenager because I don't want my daughter to grow up with bad manners. When people are kind to you then you should show some kindness back like a nod, wave, smile, etc... It just makes for a more pleasant world, IE... the betterment of society in your words. :spin

Where are all you wavers at on the road? No one ever waves at me when I let them in. I only wave when I know they can see me and i'll blow a kiss too. http://spurstalk.com/forums/images/smilies/smirolleyes.gif jk I rarely wave and I rarely see it.

I also thank someone who would hold a door open for me as well. I guess the common courtesy of an acknowledgement is just too much to ask.

That's pretty sad when you think about it. I should just quit letting people in ... I mean, I don't owe anyone on the road a fucking thing. :spin

I spoke nothing of whether a person should or should not wave. Clearly it is the kind thing to do just as letting someone in is kind. I was speaking on how I believe it is outrageous to actually become upset or mad when you don't receive some sort of recognition. Some people make it seem like if they don't receive a thank you it wasn't worth doing the kind deed, and I think that's crap. That's simply the impression they give off to me.
