What I'm saying is that I don't play with no girls ball, it plain sucks, it's light as hell and small as fuck, a mens ball is where it's at, but since the the WNBA player is a pro, there should be no problem for her since she's SO "BETTER" than me and I admit if the WNBA Guard is taller than 6'3" I'd lose (I'm 5'9"), but I doubt there are any guards in the WNBA that are taller than 6'3".

My aunt was a center for Memphis in the early 1980's at 6"4". She is a better basketball player than I am, even now. (She's nearly 50; I am 35.) However, she obviously couldn't post up almost any NBA player.

The men's and women's games are fundamentally different becuase of the height disparity. If they lowered the rims to be prorportional to the height of the average WNBA player, I don't think the leagues would look very different after a few years.

The most basic skills like running, passing, dribbling, and jump shooting are more or less gender neutral. (That is, the physiological difference between men and women is not significant enough to affect these skills.) That leaves jumping and the height disparity. The problem is that Americans mistake jumping and height for actual basketball skills, thinking that basketball means playing above the rim.

My impression has always been that women's NCAA basketball is more similar to the European approach. That is, a lot of time is spent on practice and skills development, because the players are around long enough for teams to invest in them. This is a major problem with men's NCAA basketball, becuase of players leaving early and playing too many games. (Big programs now play over 30 games pretty routinely.) There really isn't time for the men's programs.

I don't think anyone has ever once suggested that the WNBA teams are as good as NBA teams or that WNBA players are as good as NBA players. I think you have to consider it a different sport (albeit one in which a similar game is played). For instance, I don't think you'd ever hear anyone say try to argue that the Dallas Cowboys are better basketball players than the San Antonio Spurs; nor would you hear anyone argue that the Spurs are better football players than the Cowboys. Women's basketball is a different sport than men's basketball. As far as women's basketball goes, depending on how good E20 is he may be right about being able to beat some of the girls in the WNBA. I went to school with a couple of girls who I believe are ranked nationally and one plays for some junior olympic team. She could very easily end up in the WNBA in a few years. She comes to open gyms and plays with the guy all the time so I know for a certain fact that I can beat her. Although she holds her own and is better than some of the guys, she just isn't strong enough physically to beat me, although her basketball skills are probably alot better than mine.

That said, I still respect what she does and realize that she'll go farther with basketball than I ever will. Just because shes a girl and can't compete with guys physically doesn't take away from what she does. I'm planning on coming back to watch their games this year because they have a really high chance of winning state and i'll support them. But as far as E20's bet goes, he may could beat a WNBA player I can't say for sure but if he's a pretty good basketball player then i'd say he definately could.

Um, I used to work in the Hill Country all summer taking care of handicapped kids and got bit by more mosquitos than I care to remember. And I took it like a woman, enduring the temps approaching 100, high humidity and pushing, pulling wheelchairs and lifting 150 lb teens out of their wheelchairs to take them swimming and horseback riding. I never once had to go to the emergency room like a little pussy, even though they itched like hell.

Ahaahah I wish my team was state championship quality. My school had shots at a state title, but that was when I was a freshmen and sophomore, that's when I considered all the atheletic/talented people to be at my school. After my sophomore year our basketball team wasn't as good, but it was still all right, because that year our football team won state title and a lot of football players were on the basketball team, but failed to make the PO's. My talents weren't utilized under the coaching system there. I nearly wanted to quit and a couple of players quit that were better than me because they felt that Coach only cared about 3 players. Quite frankly the varsity head coach was..... well an ass. I probably averaged like 9-10 PPG in the set offense we ran + some fast break layups. That was the problem, I would never do anything else except run the offense in fear of getting benched, because that was his message to me: Run the offense(I was PG) and play defense. And that's why I made the team, because he liked the fact that I played IN YOUR FACE Defense, I'm more dirty than Bruce. LMAO. But our main scorers were our 6'6" Center :lmao and some Jr. SG, he had jumper and handles, I'll give him that, the only times other players were encouraged to score were when the offense was being run and we either had:
A) Wide open jumpshot
B) Open Lane to drive in for a layup or get sent to the line

Oh yeah and my coach played favorites too, that ass. It still makes me mad how a hypocrite he was. I skipped playing ball my Jr. year, because my schedule was way too tough to play a sport and have all that coursework. So, I just tried out again this year(senior year). So I had one year of Freshmen(9th grade), JV(10th grade), Varsity(12th grade)

Maybe he didn't like me because of the fact that I quit on his program my junior year because of school, which I have said earlier in this thread. When he asked me during my Jr. year are you playing this year and I replied: I don't want to play this year because of school. He gave me the look of you: fucking bum. My JV year he told the JV coach to not play this kid and give him a hard time during practices and games so he would quit. That kid happend to be a very good friend of mine, but he didn't quit and he just stood around and hassaled the coaches. LMAO Love that guy.

Two people during tryouts come TOGETHER at the same time in the same car, he yells at one of the kids and makes him run, then right after he jokes with the other kid and laughs. The kid that had to run also got yelled at for everything. In the end he quit.

Probably the best player at my school during my senior year quit, because he was getting benched and yelled at for reasons that were being commited by other players (TO's, some issues on D)

On game day, all players are supposed to dress formally at school. One time three kids weren't wearing ties, two of them weren't allowed at the game, but the other was.

He wasn't even going to coach this year, he applied to another school and was ready to quit and even bad mouthed the school, but then he was denied and came back to coach again. During Pre-season he made an announcement that this would be his last year because he is going to another school, because of the location, BS he knew that he had his chances to win at my school and he didn't want to coach here again because of the lack of 'talent'.

I could go on and on and on and on and on and on...................the guy has no class at all, he plays favorites, he would rather play people he likes, than better players, he's a hypocrite in his own philosphy.......etc.........

And you're pretty naive if you think EVERY coach follows a strict code of conduct/morals and they want to do what's best for the team in the W/L column.

Coach said during my Jr. year anybody interested in playing Varsity next year HAS to show up for summer camp or don't even bother showing up to tryouts during Fall. I didn't show up for summer camp and I made the team over this one kid who did show up to summer camp. LMAO

Oh yeah and I'd take you any day including Sunday.

Sounds alot like my high school coach. Except i'm pretty sure that his reasoning for unfair treatment is because he had homosexual feelings for certain players, no fucking lie. :vomit: I was once benched for scoring 9 points in under a minute, no reason just a pat on the back and good job. Didn't get to go back in the rest of the game.
