Pretty obvioius, imo, the SEA wins with offense, specifically 3-pt offense, which is withering.

SEA's offense:
===========

PPG scored: 5th (SA 17th)

PPG +diff: 3rd (SA 1st)

FG%: 9th (SA is 6th)

FT%: 3rd (SA 25th)

ASTG: 24th (SA 6th) SEA = shooting, not team play.

SEA defense:
==========

opp PPG: 24th (SA 1st)

opp FG%: 20th (SA 1st)

opp 3PT%: 14th (SA 29th!!)

BPG: 25th (SA 4th)

RPG: 29th!!! (SA 8th)

SEA scores 9-21 3GM-A, or 27 PPG on 3's and 23 PPG on FT's

SEA scors 60 PPG on 3' and FT's, out of 101 PPG.

SEA's 3pt power lines up opposite SA 3PT defensive weakness. OUCH!

Bouton's keys to the game:

Spurs defense will win it, as always:

perimeter/transition defense to limit the 3's.

crash the boards where SEA is weak, but SEA is esp strong on offensive RBs, so SA has to crash the def boards esp hard.

Careful with the fouls, SEA will hit their FTs (.800). They scored 29 pts on FTs in Spurs@Sonics.

Spurs offense has to hit its 96 PPG which should be pretty easy against SEA defense and @SBC.

Defend the pick and roll better.

Hit them as hard as Fortson hits us.

Give platform shoes to whoever guards Shard.

Keep Fortson from deliberately hurting TD.

Who do you all think should guard Lewis? Bowen or Manu
Last time they played Lewis abused Manu.

Kinda seems like Jesus could get his no matter what, so Bruce on Shard might be a good idea.

IMO Manu would be better off guarding Allen and Bowen on Lewis.

Have Bowen give a lil elbow to "Jesus". Allen gets rattled easily and he already doesnt like Bruce. Hopefully he can take his mind out of the game...

Keep Bruce on Allen and keep him on him good. Lewis may hang 30 on you if he is hot...Allen can hang 40 on you. Manu probably matches up better with Allen than Lewis...but Bruce is capable of owning Allen...

The best thing to do is to get Fortson on the bench...if he doesn't keep pumping them the ball and getting garbage points they aren't near as tough to beat.

I'd give Rashard a dose of...Devin. He did a nice job on Dirk, vs. Dallas. Dirk kept trying to bump him to post up, but Devin was too strong. Devin is also athletic enough to contest his shot. Devin is the main difference in the Spurs between this time, and last time we played them.

The Spurs need to score more points than the Sonics by the end of the game.

put Fortson on his ass once or twice. He likes to initiate contact but if someone gives it back, he usually backs down.

Manu will abuse Rashard this time, dunk on his face!

All we have to do is Defend the Damn 3 point line, and you pretty much took them out of the game..

matter of fact, why not have all the 5 starters stand on the 3 point line with their hands up... someone one the corners, elbows, and someone in the middle...

then Seattle will scratch their heads and will be confused out of their minds, they won't know what to do...

"SEA scors 60 PPG on 3' and FT's, out of 101 PPG."

SEA got 54 pts on 3's and FT's (9-22, and 27-31)

"SEA's 3pt power lines up opposite SA 3PT defensive weakness. OUCH!"

SEA's 9-22 on 3's is just about their season avg. Spurs displayed their weakness as one of NBA's weakest defenses against 3's. SEA's strengths against Spurs weaknesses carried the game.

"Bouton's keys to the game:

Spurs defense will win it, as always:

perimeter/transition defense to limit the 3's."

Spurs failed.

"crash the boards where SEA is weak, but SEA is esp strong on offensive RBs, so SA has to crash the def boards esp hard."

SEA destroyed Spurs on the boards in the first half. imo, the one statistic that accurately show desire/hustle is rebounding. And in the first half, the Spurs horrible rebounding showed how little they wanted this game.

For the game, Spurs were uncharateristically out RBed, but only slightly 38-37, so they actually out-RB SEA seriously in the 2nd half . And Spurs got more offensive. RBs, 13 -8.

"Careful with the fouls, SEA will hit their FTs (.800). They scored 29 pts on FTs in Spurs@Sonics."

SEA scored 27 pts on FTs, 87%!! FTs in 4th quarter, esp crunch minutes, kept SEA in the lead. Spurs missing their FTs, yawn, and it hurt, again, badly. The dagger 3 from Ray and the string of FTs hit down the stretch closed the game.

"Spurs offense has to hit its 96 PPG which should be pretty easy against SEA defense and @SBC."

Spurs got only 92, under their season avg and under SEA's allowed avg. Spurs had a 12 pt 2nd quarter (vs SEA 29), digging a hole that the Spurs' very respectable 2nd half couldn't escape.

SEA played a great game using their strengths, Spurs didn't use their strengths, and got beat on their weaknesses.

If the Spurs could have played the 2nd half twice, Spurs win. :)
