GOD is the pansiest entity in the Universe.
He's such an Emo pussy.
Sometimes he's happy.
Sometimes he's pissed.
Sometimes he gets hurt by us humans.
Plus, he's a vindictive son of a bitch.
I mean, that motherfucker put us here on Earth and then he says that only the good shall go to heaven and the bad shall go to Hell.
Then, he gets all pissed because everyone figures out that Satan is a lot hipper than he is. So, when Hell becomes the destination of choice, he throws a pissy fit and swears that he will destroy Earth.
What the fuck is wrong with GOD??
He sucks ass.

What a sad time we live in, God fearing men are so few. Do you not understand that he is there? If there were a painting that means there is a painter, if there is a building that means there an architect. If there is an earth that means there must be a creator. Rather it’s how complex our reproduction system is or to our earth how it’s in the perfect position for life and how it all works. Heres an example of what im talking about, You have an eye that has 137-million light-sensitive cells. If a camera lens can't come together without a designer, neither can your eye. Get the just of it?
You can even look at the bible. Over 300 prophecies from the Old testament were full filled by Jesus(Yeshua) again these predictions of who the messiah would be were written hundreds of years before Jesus came to earth. Just some one full filling 8 of them is an astronomical number. NO man could ever predict as much as the Bible and yet not been wrong. From Israel becoming a nation, to the end of times and the news that we see today, to even those 300 prophecies that I speak of. I encourage you all to look at these prophecies and read the scriptures and pray if there is a God then please show. Be Humble as well!

There are certain sections of this note. Read the title of the section to see if you’re interested in it. Please if you have any questions hit me up or hit up a church! This note was to inform people about information they may not know a lot about or information they have questioned.
God is a Trinity
See God is a Trinity, meaning he is one God but in 3 persons, like I have one body but 3 important organs (brain, heart, lungs). The brain communicates to the heart and lungs yet the whole body functions as one. Its all co efficient and co eternal ect… Just like God, you have God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit as its only one God but in 3 distinct persons. God is of one essence and self sufficient (fulfilled with in him self) as well. Going back to the Human Body metaphor, each organ has a job but one overall purpose. The same goes for our amazing God. God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit each is distinct and has certain jobs but one over all purpose. See our brain, heart and lungs are each organs but yet its still one human body.
Jesus/ how can we get to heaven and know God
So now you might ask “how does Jesus fit in to the picture”. Well Jesus is God the Son. He is the Messiah. See once God created humans we sinned. And Sin can’t be near God because it offends him. So if you sin you have to go to hell. Since we are all sinners we need a savior from hell. That’s why God the son manifested him self in to human form being fully human and fully God and lived a sin free life to be put upon the cross with all of our sins and died, then he rose 3 days later and freed us from sin. So now "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved Romans 10:9. Its one thing to know of a God but it’s another thing to know who he is personally. See once you accept Christ as your lord and savior you will be baptized by the Holy Spirit. Your body then becomes a temple for God. You then want to not to sin so you can become closer to God. You want to read his word, learn more and worship him at church. You want to be involved in a ministry to help people as well as helping people come to now our great and loving God.
He loves us so much
Think about it, God loves us so much that For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life John 3:16. Think about that. God loves us so much that he created us and wanted a personal relationship with us so much that he did this. This is just incredible. His love is ever lasting. He loves his children, his creation that’s why we are in his image. He is Great!
The Bibles Accuracy
Now some might ask, is the Bible 100 percent true? Some might ask was it written by men or God? Well first let me point out a huge fact! There were over 300 prophecies(predictions) in the Old Testament that Jesus full filled! That is incredible. Do you realize how accurate the Bible is? How hard that would be for any man to predict that? Here are some prophecies and predictions on who the messiah would be…
The Old Testament said the messiah would
Be born in Bethlehem Micah 5:2
His ministry would be world wide Isaiah 49:6.
Foreshadows Jesus’s Ministry Isaiah 61
His side would be pierced Zechariah 12:10
Description of the crucifixion psalms 22
He would speak in parables Isaiah 6:9-10
He would be in Davids line Gen 12:1-3, 7
Would be born from a virgin Isaiah 7:14
This sounds a lot like Jesus to me. All of theses have been full filled and this is just the start of it. There is so many verses that have come true. Heck just look at the end of times in the Bible and now look at whats happening in the world today. Its crazy, how could the Bible just make up that Israel would one day be a nation again and that Russian and Iran would build an Alliance and such? first off, its important to know how the bible came to be. so you ask who wrote the bible...well, The Bible was written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit by over 40 different authors from all walks of life: shepherds, farmers, tent-makers, physicians, fishermen, priests, philosophers and kings. Despite these differences in occupation and the span of years it took to write it, the Bible is an extremely cohesive and unified book. the whole bible does not once contradict its self. and it all states the same foundation. the second thing you might want to ask is "how was the bible formed"?
well the old testament was canonized(made) before Christ. the first 5 books of the old testament were written by mosses. these books were brought together and made...now you may think ok what about the new testament..well the new testament was written AD.
all of the books in the new testament became canonized. there was a council to decide which books were to be put in the bible and they all had to have these two things in common, First, the books must have apostolic authority-- that is, they must have been written either by the apostles themselves, who were eyewitnesses to what they wrote about, or by associates of the apostles.
Second, there was the criterion of conformity to what was called the "rule of faith." In other words, was the document congruent with the basic Christian tradition that the church recognized as normative.
there is still authentic manuscripts that are still around today, the actual written documents. There are over 5,600 early Greek Manuscripts of the New Testament that are still in existence. The oldest manuscripts were written on papyrus and the later manuscripts were written on leather called parchment.
Common sense
If we are organized we have an organizer. If theres a picture then theres a painter. If we have a conscious then we know theres a law of right and wrong. Seriously do you realize how complicated everything is? How everything is such to a detail? From our reproduction system to our earth being at the only point where we have just enough sun light and rotation ect...Its obvious that we were made by God.
What should we do?
So as you can see through this bit of information the Bible is unlike any book. So I want to ask every one who reads this and that isn’t saved or if they don’t believe what his word says to message me so we can talk. Seriously to get close with GOD you gotta continue to pray, read your Bible daily and go to church. When you get to a certain age try to be in some type of ministry as well! God made us to glorify him and fellowship!

Um, no. Little thing called evolution by natural selection.
BTW, intelligent design IS NOT SCIENCE and was shot to pieces in a court of law two years ago:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10545387/
"But the judge said: “We find that the secular purposes claimed by the board amount to a pretext for the board’s real purpose, which was to promote religion in the public school classroom.”
The disclaimer, he said, "singles out the theory of evolution for special treatment, misrepresents its status in the scientific community, causes students to doubt its validity without scientific justification, presents students with a religious alternative masquerading as a scientific theory, directs them to consult a creationist text as though it were a science resource and instructs students to forgo scientific inquiry in the public school classroom and instead to seek out religious instruction elsewhere." "
Your vapid metaphors don't blind me to the truth that there is no benevolent God who cares what you and I do. To think that there is a creator who watches over every single human being's actions and then judges them after their death is both absurdly self-centred and arrogant. How the Universe started I do not know, but I do know that the earth is more than 6000 years old and the Bible is NOT a literal document.
The Bible is a great book - it lays down a code of conduct, which, if followed, enables human beings to get along and live good and productive lives. However, it IS NOT FACT. It's not even what it was when it was written - it has been re-written by thousands of people since the original text was laid down.
I have no objection to faith. If you have faith, good on you, I hope it serves you well. But don't tell me that the Bible is FACT and TRUTH and a LITERAL DOCUMENT, because that insults my belief system which is REASON.
Bible literalists make me sick.

"For God so loved the world"...There for he does love every one and he died for every one. Look at Jesus( yeshua) and his life. He did not kill one person. He did not harm one person. The most anger he showed was when he threw some stuff around a temple b/c people were trying to make money out of it. I dont think that God enjoys people dying. Jesus, God in the flesh, could have called down millions of angels to attack the people who were hurting him but the King of Kings was to faithful. I mean the king of the world, the God of everything loved us so much that he did what he did.
Oh and why are you so mad at something you dont believe is there? You seem so angry and such with God yet you dont believe he is there. Well I know he is there and I think deep in your heart that you know he is there. All Im saying is that he has given us so much, salvation, creation ect..he just calls us to fellowship and glorify his name. Im called to witness his gospel and in real life and or on the computer im going to do it. I will stop at nothing and I know millions of people who feel the same way.

Why? How can you disprove so many of the prophecies that have been predicted in the Bible? how can you say even though Jesus full filled those 300 prophecies that he cant be God. He cant be the son, the messiah?
We all fall short do we not? God's standard is so high that he says if you lust after a women that you commit adultery with her in your heart. He says if you hate a person that you commit murder with them in your heart. And im assuming you have lied before, there for you are a liar. So we are all lie'n , murderous, adulteryers( i know thats not spelled right) right? And God says if you brake one of the commandments then you brake all of them. And in the Bible it says all liars, thieves, perverts ect..will all have there part in the lake of fire. So we would be damned. But For God so loved the World he gave his only son , that who ever believes in him shall not perish but have ever lasting life. (John 3:16)
For if you confess that Jesus is lord and believe that God raised him from the dead you will be saved. (romans 10:9) We are saved by love and grace. We then are baptized by the Holy Spirit!
I'm a proud fundamentalist. When the Bible speaks in literal it means literal. All the prophecies that were ment in literal sense came true in literal means.

I definitely believe in God, and spiritual power. It's very real. There are forces at work greater than anything our little human brains can wrap our little minds around.
I agree, though, that you have to be careful in how you interpret the Bible due to the human element involved not only in the original text but in the translations that have occurred throughout the years. I can understand how a lot of people are turned off by those who take the Bible too literally.
I think the Bible has replaced true spirituality for a lot of people and I think this only reinforces disbelief in those who can't find truth or guidance in the Bible's teachings. I believe the Bible was meant to reinforce people's personal spirtuality, but many of us make it our only basis for spirituality. Rather than praying and meditating, being guided by spirit and then reinforcing those spiritual teachings with Bible readings, most people will sit in a church or bible study and let people interpret Bible verses to them as a basis for their faith.
If more people could tap into true spiritism they would see and feel for themselves that there is a higher power involved. Evolution is simply God's hand at work. It's as ridiculous to think that everything in the universe happened by accident as it is to say that the earth and everything on it was created in six days. Science is constantly disproving it's own theories on the universe and on evolution. Human beings understanding of the universe is still in its infancy. As science continues to evolve and discover the "why" of the universe, I'm sure all will realize that there were spiritual forces at work, running the show the entire time.
That's my two cents on the subject.

Basically my beliefs can be summed up by saying Nature is the Law. I believe in Science most of all. And i believe Science would say that a "god" is not necessarily provable.
but then again, who made science...
Sort of like a phrase repeated in an old song i used to listen to back in my "drug hazed" days.
Its inconceivable to think that time had a begining, but it is equally inconcievable to think that it didn't.
so in short...who the hell knows. I know Science and Nature can prove to me how certain things happen, if there is anything bigger than that, ill wait and see i suppose.
Good thing about it is, if i just live by what i feel is morally correct, i think ill do ok, even if there is an afterlife. No church or man that ordained himself closer to god than i is going to change that.
I also have a very strong disdain for organized religion. I believe that it takes a weak will to have to rely on a religion to give yourself a feeling of self purpose and worth.
enjoy your life, be a good person, and let "god" do the rest, if it is to be. My wife, who is fairly religious, made me think of a very good point recently. And that is, why not believe? If it isnt true, well it isnt true, and you will find out when you die...but why not give yourself that comfort of faith...good point really...beacause to be quite honest...im scared of death...but with that viewpoint...beleif...its a little less scary now isnt it?
thats just randomness...i have a few decent books that really do a lot to state my place better than i.

But if God says no man is good and nothing is good but him, then we cant be a good person. If as he says we are as dirty as unclean rags then we arent good right? Like ive said earlyer, God says all liars, theives, murderers ect. wil have there part in the lake of fire. He says we all fall short.

In my opinion these thoughts and ideas are construed by man over many MANY years to put fear into people to conform and be scared to act as an individual. It was a method of control used by the educated, to keep control of the uneducated.
These are the kind of confounds i dislike and do not agree with. I think if there is a god persay, there should be no reason to fear it, nor do i believe it would be that judgemental.

:) Hey! Yes the 300 fulfilled prophecies I speak of are the over 300 prophecies that Jesus fulfilled on who the messiah would be. See in the Old Testament there were over 300 prophecies (predictions) on who the messiah (savior) would be. This was written hundreds of years before Jesus. These prophecies were such as He would be in davids blood line. Be born In Bethlehem. Speak in parables. Missions will include Gentiles. Will be pierced in the side. Theres a certain time period that it has to be in ect....Theres over 300 of these types of predictions that Jesus Fulfilled!

Messiah would...
1. Be Born in Bethlehem Micah 5:2
( “ But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
Though you are little among the thousands of Judah,
Yet out of you shall come forth to Me
The One to be Ruler in Israel,
Whose goings forth are from of old,
From everlasting.”)
2. A King on Donkey Zechariah 9:9
( “ Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!
Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, your King is coming to you;
He is just and having salvation,
Lowly and riding on a donkey,

That is also why i think the bible should never ever be taken literal, as it was written by man...
i personally think of it as a book of fables used to guide generations morals. Sure there were probably all these people, but their divinity isnt proven, and for all we know, they have nothing to do with real christianity.
Its like this...We write through a pen to the paper right? God uses us as instruments to write his word. You can tell that it is the word of God after you examine the Prophecies, History, lack of contradictions ect. Not to mention that the Bible was written by 40 different people over periods of time yet it remains so cohesive and states the same thing.

In my opinion these thoughts and ideas are construed by man over many MANY years to put fear into people to conform and be scared to act as an individual. It was a method of control used by the educated, to keep control of the uneducated.
These are the kind of confounds i dislike and do not agree with. I think if there is a god persay, there should be no reason to fear it, nor do i believe it would be that judgemental.
again if it were written by men then how could all of the prophecies come into place and come true. How could 40 different writters be so cohesive? How could its predicitons of the final days start looking like what we see on the news everyday? I'd much rather put my faith in this then the fable of people writting stories so people will act good.

One more time I will say this but I just wana make sure every one is clear on it.
We are sinners as you can see from the previous conversations that we all fall short. We send our selves to hell b/c we are law brakers and we are not good. We all lie, steal, cheat, lust ect. So we need a savior. the bible gave over 300 prophecies on who that savior would be in the old testament. Jesus fulfilled all of them. He was put on the cross fully human yet fully God and died for our sins to rise 3 days later. He conquerd sin and death. And we are made good through him. And that If you confess that Jesus is lord and believe that God raised him from the dead you will be saved(romans 10:9)
We then are baptized by the Holy Spirit and if we truly did this we will crave his word and to praise him. We then will be fruitful.
Ok now that I got that clear I think im going to finally go work out lol Ive been caught up with so many threads here and bigsoccer.com that I forgot I was supposed to be at the gym 3 hrs ago.LOL

This is what my friend had to say...
It's important to know that Jesus decended through Mary's line because she was of the line of David thru, "Nathan". If Joseph had been his natural/biological father He would have been disqualified because Joseph was decended from David through Solomon, whose line was disqualified because of the "Jeconian" curse. Thus, Mary being a Virgin and Jesus being conceived through the Holy Spirit; He was eligible for the throne of David.

Once upon a time
When the world was just a pancake
Fears would arise
That if you went too far, you'd fall
But with the
Passage of time
It all became more of a ball
We're as sure of that
As we all once were when the world was flat
So I wonder this
As life billows smoke inside my head
This little game
Where nothing is sure (oh)
Why would you play by the rules?
Who did, you did, you
Who did, you did, you
When was it killed
The very last dodo bird
And was she aware
She was the very last one
So I wonder this
As life billows smoke inside my head
This little game
Where nothing is sure (oh)
Why would you play by the rules?
Who did, you did, you
Who did, you did, you
You say who did, you did, you
If all the things that you are saying now
Were true enough but still what is all the worrying about
We can work it out
We can work it out
Oh I wonder this
As life billows smoke inside my head
This little game
Where nothing is sure (oh)
Why would you play by the rules?
Who did, you did, you
Who did, you did, you
You say who did, you did, you

Wow. You're so wrong. That very idea came up in worship tonight.
No one knows what happens after death. As Christians we choose to believe in a higher power, a higher place, and a higher purpose, not a fear. Or at least that's how I choose to see it. I don't fear anything. I cannot, as a Christian, wait for the day that I die, for whatever reason it is, to see God, Jesus, and all that other spiritual crap that you claim some Christians are "afraid of" and to finally breathe a sigh of relief because I will have finally arrived in his kingdom, not ours.

True, the Jewish, Christian, and Islamic faiths are all Abhramic in their roots and their parallels are valid. But, they also believe their going to be greeted by three virgins and palm trees. And the fundamentalists are a small group of the Islamic faith. If you're going to judge a whole faith based on that small percentage you have a lot more problems than just being an atheist.

Basically my beliefs can be summed up by saying Nature is the Law. I believe in Science most of all. And i believe Science would say that a "god" is not necessarily provable.
but then again, who made science...
Please don't compare science and religion - they are anathema to one another.
The scientific method is about observable phenomena, whereas religion is about the exact opposite - faith, belief without observation. That is why I have a problem with Bible literalism - there are a million observable phenomena which prove that the world is not as the Bible contends it is (ie. 6000 years old, the Great Flood, etc).
Also, Bible literalism is tending towards fundamentalism - it leaves no room for reasonable human judgement because the Bible must then be interpreted as a literal text rather than the moral guide that it is.
Have your faith, whatever it may be, but to tell me as a scientists that the Bible is literal and not a metaphorical, religious and philosophical text insults my intelligence.

I couldn't find one for Iran, my bad.
And as far as praising God in different languages and countries, I just dare you to look at every single one of those links throughly and in depth and get back to me. If you really understood Christianity you would understand that believing isn't just a happy time thing, it's a sad time thing. When you're in a tough position, as these people are, they give it up to God, they know they are supposed to be there for a reason, if they understand things correctly. (As I see it). They use their experiences for the good, not for the bad. Being Christian isn't about fearing and being selective. God doesn't love or hate based on where you live. Just because you have less food or less whatever doesn't mean you don't have as much faith as I do. One starving child in Africa has as much love of Jesus, even this crazy Emo Jesus, as I do. No one is more or less than in a Christian community.
And while I'm at this point, it would be fair to make the comparison with what I do on a daily basis. These children come from a community of 97% poverty. Would you call that a selective community or environment? Some of my kids have two, count them, two t-shirts and one pair of pants. There's nothing I can do about it because I work at a non-profit and am in 48,000 of debt because of school. These kids are also "at-risk". Some of them come in big clusters and some are even abused, neglected, and mentally challenged. What I do, as a Christian is show them unconditional love, the same type of love God and his son would show them. How can you argue with that?

Riddle me this - why are the Christians the right ones? Well before Christianity there was Buddhism, Hinduism, Toaism, the Greek and Roman pantheons - why does Christianity usurp all of those belief systems? Why is Christianity the RIGHT one? Because you believe it, that's why, no other reason.
Religion is a very clever way of controlling human behaviour. People need something to live for, so give them something they can neither prove nor disprove then tell the way they behave will affect their afterlife. Surprise, surprise, most people are scared shitless by that idea and will do whatever they are told, whether it be go on a Holy war, hunt down witches or give up 10% of their income.
As I have said time and again, I have no objection to anyone else having faith, but I don't, I'd rather rely on my reason. And if God/the Gods, whatever faith they may belong to, want to send me to "Hell" for being true to my own conscience, then what sort of Deities are they??? Vengeful, petty ones I say, if they'd rather I sacrifice my integrity and lie that i believe something I don't.

I bet his answer would be "God put that there to test your faith". So, God gave us minds to inquire, the tools to test our inquiry, then set down a natural world which is clearly billions of years old (all you need to know that is geology, although you can add the fossil record, phylogenetics and astronomy if you want more evidence) to trick us, to see who would still have faith even when their reason contradicted it. I will not disagree with the bloodshed, but look at all the blood the other religions have shed as well. They're all pretty bloody. The key to any religion is ministry and outreach. That sometimes is done through war. So, even if you're talking about present day causalities, or ancient causalities it's a part of religion, which, RNR mentioned is needed because people need something to help explain the world, whether it is the truth, the way, or the purpose. It'll always be there. Or if there is another higher being that isn't Christian. There's something there a lot of people think of.

Christians have killed more people throughout History than all the empires combined . . . or very close to it.
There is so much blood running through Christian hands.
And, now that they have it good they want to get all righteous.
Whatever.

Ain't that the truth. Since AD, Christians have been the most bloodthirsty mofos on the planet. Read about the Crusades some time:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crusades
And just around the corner we have the holy war to end them all, the Final Crusade, the Christian vs Muslim conflict to end all conflicts... all over which book is the right book, which God the right God. WTF??? Who cares? Live and let live, each to his/her own I say. But you watch, WW III will start over a religious issue and that will be the end of the world (one dirty bomb in a US city and who doesn't think Iran would be on the end of more than a few ICBMs?).
The world is in deep shit, and fundamentalism on both sides is pushing us deeper...

Sorry about the misinterpretations. :D But, as for anything written, we're human..not "God-like" (if can say that in this thread) in that it's this way and only this way. Some Christians will say that, and I don't agree. I choose to interpret the Bible in one way and I know a lot of people that interpret it the same way I do. We come together to read it. If you believe in it another way that's fine. There's no right or wrong, in my opinion. Others will argue differently.

I have argued that there is a wrong way to read the Bible, and that is to interpret it literally, and I stand by that. The planet/Universe is simply not six thousand years old, and Noah did not load all the animals on the Ark. The Bible is a bunch of parables and metaphors, and to interpret it literally is FUNDAMENTALIST (Muslim Fundamentalists interpret the Koran literally), DANGEROUS (literal reading leaves no room for interpretation), and UTTERLY MORONIC (given the abundant evidence to contradict a literal interpretation).
I hope the Bible and your faith brings you and your friends peace and hope, because the world needs more of both, but it needs less blind literalism (ie. fundamentalism).

You know, this is the greatest mystery of all. Why are we here and how did we originate? Whis is our purpose? Is is as simplistic as a measly ant, to perform our duties until we expire, or is it for some higher purpose? This is a question that pops into my head from time to time, usually when there is a lull in activity and the brain returns back to the question that I wish I had figured out but see no way of doing so. Man, this one gets me in one of those mind blowing moments every time. I can see how religion reduced to it's fundamental core, to the ideal, can be very enlightening and true, but at the same time I see religion used as a tool by the empowered to manipulate the actions and beliefs of the masses. My mind tells me that if people like Bush, Bin Laden, Swaggert, etc. can and willingly use religion to manipulate then it's a definite given that many, many others have done the same throughout time and spanning all of civilization. It seems overwhelmingly obvious that every modern religion in it's current form is man-made and manipulated to the point of irrelevancy by self righteous men over the thousands of years they've been around. If there was any truth to them, anything divine in nature, it has been lost almost completely due to this manipulation. Is anything just? Are there truly consequences for actions outside of our man-made and man imposed consequences? Maybe there isn't and this world is a complete dog-eat-dog world where the cunning and manipulative reap the most rewards.
I don't know.

The conflict in Israel goes waaaaaaay back . . . all the way back to the Crusades.
Do you know anything about the crusades??
Anything at all??
That's when stupid ass Christians thought God was telling them that they had to kill off the Muslims in the "Holy Land". So, they marched all the way to the "Holy Land" to kick some ass and to kill a Muslim here and there. Only, they got their asses handed to them. And, pretty bad.
But, being the true Christians they were (and because they couldn't stand the fact that they got their asses whooped by some other god's people) they figured they had to kick some other religious peoples' asses. So, after a while, the Christians believed that God was telling them that they had to kill Jews.
So, The Inquisition was born. And, millions of Jews were killed. It was easier to kill them because they didn't have an actual country. It was fun, but they got bored and decided that they had to up the game. So, Christians decided to war with each other. And, Europe was pretty much cut in half and war ensued for hundreds of years. Too many people died and it became an inconvenience. So, some of them quit. However, the Irish and the English still haven't quit the game. What are you gonna do, right?
Anyway, a whole "new world" was discovered and Christians found that it was easier to kill defenseless people in the name of God. So, the natives of the Americas were systematically killed in the name of God. Then, some people in Europe were getting tired of all this "God" stuff. They really just wanted to party, drink, and fuck. Problem was, that there were still some pretty uptight Christian whackos that wanted everyone to live a "pure" life, lest God destroy them for their heathen lifestyle.
So, England kicked out the uptight pricks and they landed in America. These Pricks . . . er, um, Purists started to colonize North America by killing Native Americans (both actively by just shooting their asses, and inactively by giving them the gifts of blankets covered in the smallpox virus). But, that was all okay because God wanted it so.
Anyway, fast forward to present day America and we have you, our little "ashbeeigh" (pronounced "ass bag"?) who is a decendent, in one way or another, of these uptight, purist Christian whackos.
And, if it came down to it, you'd probably kill heathens in the name of the all might God if you were asked to do it.
Seriously, you Christians are a violent group of people.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay earlier then that. Do you know what they're fighting over? They're fighting over the religious right to the city of Jeruselum. The city holds the temple for each religion and they both believe they have spiritual claim to it. The Crusades have nothing to do with the current status of Israel, which I was speaking of...in my humble opinion.

Are you retarded, or does your lazy eye affect your reasoning as well as your sight??
The Jews and Muslims in Israel are still fighting for the right to Jerusalem. The path to peace in that area has always been for one of them to relinquish their right to Jerusalem. Jews never will because Jerusalem was the ancient capital of Israel. Muslims (palestinians) will never give up claim because Muhammad ascended onto heaven from Jerusalem.
Christians continue to put pressure on both sides becasue they lay claim to the land where Jesus roamed, especially Jerusalem where the Church of The Holy Sepulchre is at.
Sooooooooo, the religious conflict that embroiled the three religions thousands of years ago continues to this very day.

As they were walking along the road, a man said to him, "I will follow you wherever you go."
Jesus replied, "Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head."
He said to another man, "Follow me."
But the man replied, "Lord, first let me go and bury my father."
Jesus said to him, "Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God."
Still another said, "I will follow you, Lord; but first let me go back and say good-by to my family."
Jesus replied, "No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God."

On the Crusades, I think it's quite ironic given the attitudes of modern Westerners towards Islam, that in the First Crusade, everyone in Jerusalem (Muslims and Jews mostly) was slaughtered after the Christians took it over, but when Saladin recaptured it a century later he let people go if they could pay a ransom, and only sold the others into slavery.

The Fascination With Hell's Fury
Hell Has Played a Role Across Cultures and History, but What Does It Mean Today?
By ROB WALLACE and FARNAZ JAVID
July 11, 2007 —
Do you believe in hell? If you do, you're not the only one.
This afterlife for so-called sinners has fascinated society since the dawn of time. The very thought of the place inspired Dante to write his "Inferno," giving us history's most detailed description of the underworld.
Since then, artists from Michelangelo to Marilyn Manson have shaped our opinion of the infernal abyss. Most religious teachings describe hell as the netherworld anyone might end up in who strays from the straight and narrow. That view seems to be changing in this age of logic and political correctness.
Watch the full story on "20/20's" special "Hell: Our Fear and Fascination," Friday at 10 p.m. EDT
A decade ago, 56 percent of Americans polled said they believed in hell. After the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, the number shot up to 71 percent (polls conducted by Harris and Gallup), then fell in recent years, but this pattern is not a new phenomenon. Man's definition of the abyss has shifted since the dawn of humanity. And through it all, it seems the more sinister hell is made out to be, the more it is mocked and embraced. It is a surefire punch line on television and in movies, and it's used to market everything from comic books to chewing gum.
Hell's Lure
Hell can also be a seductive muse for all those fans of sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll. One of them, a kid from an Ohio Christian school named Brian Warner is today better known as Marilyn Manson. For more than a decade, he has made millions with his dark music and artwork, thrilling fans and provoking conservatives.
Manson said he's confident he'll end up in hell when he dies. Laughing, he said, "I am gonna say that it would probably be a more comfortable place for me, because everyone I know would be there, and I wouldn't really be allowed to do anything in heaven that would be any fun."
The possibility of going to hell may be attractive to Manson, but in the past, many held on to hopes that their enemies would spend eternity in its fiery grip.
Satan's realm grew more vivid through the harsh Middle Ages. Miriam Van Scott, who wrote "The Encyclopedia of Hell," said that is because peasant masses embraced the idea of heavenly relief and divine payback.
Hell, she continued, "was especially popular in the time when the lord or the king or the emperor could steal your daughter. He could sell your family away. So they really liked the idea of, 'OK, at some point you're gonna pay."
The Road to Hell ...
In modern times, who exactly is destined for damnation? Singer and songwriter Kurt Cobain asked that question in his song "Lake of Fire," and later committed suicide. A new ad for Orbit gum imagines the rock star in heaven, but most religions would send someone who took his own life to hell.
But in this age of science, Van Scott said people are moving away from that idea. "Hell is a little too medieval. It's a little too extreme," she said. "There have been so many horrible humanitarian disasters on sort of massive scales that it's very hard to imagine something worse."
That shift in thinking could one day end fear of eternal torture. Columbia University religion professor Alan Segal said, "Americans have been doing away with hell on a regular basis. We pretty much all think we're going to heaven."
Even the Vatican is modifying its position on where you could end up after death. For centuries, Catholics believed in a benign form of hell called limbo, a place reserved for unbaptized babies. But recently the pope let go of that idea altogether, leaving some wondering if the church, or all of humanity, could ever let go of hell entirely.

Christopher Hitchens is smart but he lets his intellectual superiority complex combined with his hate for organized religion water down his logic and produce smug atheism-for-dummies books like "God is Not Great" which are lauded by anti-religion college students because it beefs up their sense of self-importance for rejecting a belief in something they don't see or fully understand.

I'll agree that he's smug.
And, I hate some of his political viewpoints.
But, it's a pretty damn good book. It's a little broad and it's not meant as a cornerstone to atheism. It's basically an expose on religion and the negative, hateful, violent influence it's had over the centuries.
It's a good book. If you haven't read it yet, or read it completely, I would definitely recommend it.

Using God as the reason why we have wars on the planet is pretty easy. More people have died in the name of God then for any other reason. Sad but true. Still if God wasn't the reason another reason would take its place. Primitive man killed one another to defend territory. Mankind will always have wars and violence and all of that junk not for the sake of God but because thats just how we are. If God wasn't the reason something else would suffice. The trick is tolerance, if people could learn to tolerate what others believe and not kill one another cause your God isn't as powerful as mine, or not start threads just to get people going back and fourth, though it has been amusing, then all would be as right as rain. Well as right as it could be, were only human after all.

I'm not a confrontational person, peewee. I'm always answering your questions concisely, and without a snappy undertone. I wasn't defending "my God" one way or another with my previous statement. I don't understand why you're so angry about my beliefs. Go find another message board that has angry Christians to argue with. This is a "Spurs" message board. Not a "Religion" message board. I if it were a Religion message board I wouldn't be here. I get enough of that shit on a daily basis. So step the fuck off.
You and your Christian friends tried to take over this thread with your Christian propaganda. This thread was started as a thread for me and the troll "GOD" to talk shit to each other. We had been having fun doing that very same thing. It was all bullshit. Then, you guys started with a Christian discourse.
So, who were the angry ones.
All I did was to respond to you guys everytime you posted
If you "get enough of that shit ona daily basis", well then maybe you shouldn't be bringing it up. You could choose to turn the other way. But, that's just too hard for you to do, isn't it?

Great point Avitus. I agree with everything you said. But, it's hard to be tolerant of religions that think theirs is the only way (which pretty much covers all the religions in the world). I really am tolerant of others beliefs, as long as they can keep it too themselves.
Wouldn't it be better living in a world without any religious beliefs at all??

Thats like saying wouldn't it be better living in a world without different cultures? While the prospect might be appealing ultimately it would be very boring and life needs excitement and diversity thats how things evolve to be bigger and better. Religion is important to many people and to many parts of the world. There is a lot of destruction due to religions but they can also be part of a greater good and help people, rather it is find peace in there lives, or keep food in there stomachs.
Tolerance is something that is very lacking. Most religions believe theres is the only way which is true and I cant argue that. My religion (and yes I am religious) believes that too. Christianity is a big thing in this country and they are there are Christians out there who are constantly telling you and me and everyone else that we are going to hell. It upsets me, and a lot of people. The important thing that I notice is missing is that if your a Christian you are supposed to love everyone as a brother/sister and I dont see that going on to much. Especially if you look at history. Christianity in its true form is about peace, so are most religions, peace with oneself, with others, and with God. Though I never see that. The only ones that seem to got the peace thing down are the Buddhist.
Myself I'd never try to impose my religion on others, its my choice to believe in what I believe and if you dont believe in it as long as you are cool with me I'm cool with you. I think if people just accepted us all for each other and remembered that we are all supposed to be brothers and sisters we'd all get along.
Though I think I got high hopes there to be honest cause you know as well as I do that people will always try to enforce there opinions and beliefs on you rather you want to hear about it or not.
Wouldn't it be better living in a world without any religious beliefs at all??
Imagine that.

My original post was to clarify your view of "Christians." I was never confrontational. If you need a refresher here it is:
No one knows what happens after death. As Christians we choose to believe in a higher power, a higher place, and a higher purpose, not a fear. Or at least that's how I choose to see it. I don't fear anything. I cannot, as a Christian, wait for the day that I die, for whatever reason it is, to see God, Jesus, and all that other spiritual crap that you claim some Christians are "afraid of" and to finally breathe a sigh of relief because I will have finally arrived in his kingdom, not ours.
A lot of people know I moved to Dallas for the summer to work with kids in the inner city, what y'all don't know is that it's a church sponsored program. I see God, His will, and the way working every single day, and I will challenge each and every one of you non-believers to come up to 547 East Jefferson Blvd from tomorrow to August 8th to see the proof. There are more then 1100 children you can see these workings through.
I was going to turn the other cheek, but when you started to insult theroc5's posts I thought I needed to clarify a few things. I did that in my one post. You started the confrontation with your "Muslim fundamentalist" and "Crusade" stuff.
As far as my beliefs, I just have faith in it. If you don't have the same faith I do there's no need for you to beat my posts to death, repeatedly. I'm done. You and G.O.D. can go about your business.

Well said, Avitus. I agree that culture, or cultural diveristy, is essential. We can't all be the same and expecting others to be the same leads to misunderstandings and, in fact, war. But, I think that culture can survive the end of religiostiy. They are not dependent of one another. They are very independent of each other. Regional differences make this world great. But we don't need to have religion to have different cultures in the world. Cultures come about from having to adapt to a given environment differently from another group belonging to a different geological environment.
I appreciate that you have your faith. And, I appreciate that you don't try to enforce your faith to others. I respect your view, but I still believe that this world can do with out religion.

Once again, it was a bullshit thread until you put in your Christian propaganda.
And, you felt a need to "clarify a few things" when I insulted theroc5's posts?? That's where you went wrong.
I didn't realize you had to rush to his defense.

Thats true what you said about some cultures, but some are influenced by religions. Tibet for example, or India, and I'm sure if I thought about it I could name more, truth be told I've been drinking a few while watching this Soccer Game. I think the world needs religon but a more tolerant view of them and from them. Simple truth is some people need hope, and religion delivers that to both the wealthy and the poor. A lot of stuff has come from religion both good and bad and religions still bring a lot of stuff to the world both good and bad. For all the good charity given to countries, I can name bad intelligent design forced down people's throats. You gotta take the good with the bad I guess. Ultimately it comes down to what I said earlier, the world would be better if it was tolerant. You could never eliminate religion, but with education we could teach tolerance and then the world would truly be a better place. Though education would have to be improved :-/
Dah well right? I think I've said all I can say here. I think we both have to one another. *shrugs* So hows the weather? Speaking of weather I think its controlled by Superman, not God nor Science. ;-)

Maybe one unifying religion for all??
I could live with that. I wouldn't go for it, but I could certainly tolerate a SINGLE religion that unites people throughout the world.
Superman needs to bring winter now!!!
It's too fucking hot.
My air condition is on 24/7 and I'm gonna pay up the ass . . . literally.

A unifying religion would eventually split up into several "true religions."
All Superman is good for lately is making it rain endlessly...
