All hail M-1, the Fedor rental agency!
Just bring him back with a full tank and don't drive him anywhere off road and keep him under 40mph!
And the thing is…with one warm up fight in the UFC he has a good chance to beat anyone…just sucks seeing such elite talent waste away…like boxing…that’s all this is…boxing agenda.
But he has given us some amazing fights…he will PROBABLY retire in a handful of years without being punch drunk and he will be very wealthy. Good for him. He owes us nothing.

Wow. Turner seems like a well-spoken guy, but he is jaded in his thoughts that "(Shaw's) team" dont follow his views. There is no way Shaw doesn't know about what's going on. There is absolutely no possibility that Shaw doesn't know. Should I state that another way? He has been very closely vested to all the shows and then to not know about it? Come on.
Yeah its a pretty crazy situation right there.
I understand getting dropped afrom a card, that happens. Regardless EliteXC should have never ever listed him without the ink on the paper. As soon as you're listed on the site you're as good as legal I would think. Bad move on their part to send out a press release without contacting him first. Then to not return his phone calls/emails? Hopefully he is compensated for his training at the least.
All of those pages of me ranting on Fedor are because of things like this. Boxing style of business has no place in MMA. And in case anyone doesn't know, Gary Shaw is a boxing promotor.

I don't know why Spike doesn't just go ahead and show every fight of every card. Their programming sucks. Most of it is garbage B-level TV programming that is 5+ years old. It's a freaking re-run channel.
If I was them I would do everything I could do show as much UFC as possible. That's how channels get started…they saturate their most vocal audience with what they want.

That's what my husband said when I told him about this: "It should be three hours. Who the hell wants to watch CSI reruns from 2004?"
Considering they paid the UFC roughly 100 million for TV rights they should squeeze every minute of live UFC airtime as possible.

The UFC has made no official announcement, and Spike TV could not confirm the news, but a source close to the event exclusively told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that April 2’s UFC Fight Night 13 event will, in fact, run three hours.
The event takes place at the Broomfield Event Center near Denver, Colo., and features what is perhaps the most talent-rich fight card in Spike TV history. Kenny Florian and Joe Lauzon meet in the night’s main event, while fan favorites such as Clay Guida, Matt Hamill, Karo Parisyan, Frankie Edgar and Houston Alexander fill out the undercard.
The MMA fanbase recently kicked off a letter-writing campaign to Spike TV executives asking that the broadcast run three hours rather than the usual two. UFC President Dana White recently stated that the decision was Spike TV’s — and Spike TV’s alone — to make, which prompted a campaign fueled by MMA blogs and message boards.
UFC Fight Night 13 will serve as a lead-in for “The Ultimate Fighter 7,” the latest installment of the UFC and Spike TV’s hit reality series. The seventh season of the show, which will feature 32 UFC middleweight hopefuls, includes UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton Jackson and the original winner of “The Ultimate Fighter,” Forrest Griffin, as coaches.
Spike TV will likely announced news of the three-hour broadcast, as well as an updated televised card, this week, we’re told. With the late switch of Tim Boetsch for Stephan Bonnar, and the inclusion of additional televised bouts, the official card released by the UFC last week is expected to change.

I don't get the quantity of fights...why not just have 8 or 9 and try to squeeze most of them into 3 hrs?
I think the quality is related to the big push for TUF 7 since the fight night leads into it...
You know…I think you're right…simple as that.
Quantity gives them high chances of airing some awesome unaired fights. If you have 3 fights chances are 1 will be awesome (ya hear that boxing?) so they have a few shots at filling some gaps with some incredible fights.

So it's all lower tier MMA but they will still have some good fights. Sort of the NCAA of MMA channel.

No reason for special rules when the weights are the same (at least in the same division)...I'd consider special rules, which are typical for fights in Japan, if I was outweighed by 140 lbs too...

Somebody needs to tell Roy that the half-assed spinning roundhouse celebration after his fights doesn't make him look any less athletic than he already is...

Does he really think that Roy F'n Nelson is more worthy than Rizzo, Monson, or Rothwell?? Nelson is 4th on that list for me...easily...
No I think he is only taking into account his last fights in comparison to Nelson.
At least that is how I am taking it so I agree with him but judging by the comments by you and people on that post I seem to be the only one who took it that way.
He needs to clarify himself apparantly.
And just to be clear...
When you take into account his recent fight history of bizarre match-ups...Nelson is the best one.Now with that in mind, I think Fedor would destroy him. It would not get to the second round.
But effing hell…this shouldn't even be a debate. He shouldn't even be in this position.

Didn't some PRIDE execs have some weird comments about him a few years ago why he wasn't on the big PRIDE cards. (ultra vague comment on my part…hah)
Shogun shreds his knee again and will no longer be fighting Chuck. So it looks like Chuck will now face Rashad.
This guy did a nice little summary on what's going on with Shogun's knee and what happens when an athlete has such an injury.

Given today's medicine, he can be back at full strength if he handles it the right way.

Yeah I believe that's the case and that's the point where it's possible to get a cadaver's inplanted in you...or an ACL graft I think it's called...when it completely tears away.

Thats a good matchup for Sokoudjou. Nakamura is a good fighter and has fought top guys but he has been crap lately. They both looked bad vs Machida but both were making UFC debuts and Nakamura was high going into the fight so it should be intresting. i see Soku with the KO or maybe use his judo to get this to the ground and do some GnP. Or that fight has all the makings to be a boring decision.
Thats a good matchup for Sokoudjou.
I think his career will go fine.
He is so young and by all accounts and awesome teacher. His hype got a little premature. I see no reason why he won't hold a belt one day in the UFC.

Cro Cop came into the UFC with an ultra egotistcal attitude that he was going to walk thru the UFC and retire with the belt in short order.
Now he is fighting Fedor level of competition…
Yeah…
My HW hero…
What a dissapointment... :hang
Sigh….
I think what hurt him right off the bat was he refused to train in the cage. He did not think all those years of fighting in rings with ropes would make any difference. Then after the loss to Gonzaga he started training with a cage but by then i think his confidence was shaken. I still say though that the UFC made a mistake letting him go. He is too talented and still young for them to feel he is all washed up.
Yeash it's a confusing thing…
Supposedly he is coming back when he gets his sh-t back together. The UFC has yet to release a press realease on it so I think he wasn't let go. Just allowed to cross promote for awhile. Contrary to popular belief the UFC does allow people to cross promote, just not if you're a big name on his way up. Small time guys and wash outs get to go do whatever.
I think the moment he gets it together and Dream lines him up for a big time main event I bet he gets yanked right back.

Looks like Kimbo vs. James Thompson at May 31 EliteXC for their CBS debut.
This is about the right level of talent Kimbo needs to be facing but its a sad state of affairs that this is a headline fight. This should be a first TV event type fight...nowhere near a headliner.
James will rush him...Kimbo will absorb him and begin launching fists.
Fight over.

Perfect fight for the masses to see. They don't wanna see a fat guy against Kimbo...muscles = baddass fighter!! They'd scoff at Paul Buentello, but will think JT has a chance...
Former UFC middleweight champion Evan Tanner will attempt to bounce back from a recent loss to Yushin Okami last month when he takes on Kendall Grove at the The Ultimate Fighter 7 Finale on June 21st.
Sources close to the fight have confirmed to MMA on Tap that bout agreements have been signed. It’s unknown at this time whether or not the fight will be televised or serve as one of the event’s preliminary bouts.
bout he should have had the first time...
But I understand why the UFC made it what it was.

The UFC has added Jeremy Horn and Dean Lister to the TUF 7 Finale card on June 21st that will be live on Spike TV.
The card that features a main event of Evan Tanner Vs Kendall Grove in Middleweight action, is shaping up to be a very good card.
As it stands right now the official matches announced for the card are:
Evan Tanner vs. Kendall Grove
Diego Sanchez vs. Luigi Fioravanti

85 back on PPV with Nog vs Mir as the headliner??
Nog by any method he choses.
Nog may hold the HW belt for a long time. He says he makes 3x more in the UFC than he did PRIDE so he isn't going anywhere for years.
And Dana said he offered Randy Nog and Mir so I guess he declined...
part of me hoped...
MMA-ID (www.mma-id.com), proud sponsor of Mirko Cro Cop, has learned in the last few hours that Cro Cop will be facing dynamic heavyweight striker Jerome LeBanner. The bout is scheduled to take place at DREAMS 4 on June 16 in Saitama, Tokyo. LeBanner is 3-1-1 in mixed martial arts, last competing in 2006.

"The UFC has announced that the June 7th UFC 86 card from London, England will now be a free TV event with Chuck Liddell pulling out from the card. The new main event sees Light Heavyweights Rashad Evans and James Irvin collide. This is the smartest move possible by the company as this show would have been lost on PPV being sandwiched between the May 24th card and the July 5th event with Quinton Jackson Vs Forrest Griffin. Do you realize this means there will be 4 UFC shows in a span of 6-weeks with UFC 84, 85, 86 and a TUF 7 finale?"

After days of confusion and frustration, it appears that Nick Diaz (Pictures) will be fighting Sunday in Japan after all.

The complete card for Adrenaline MMA’s first-ever show on June 14 at the Sears Center in Chicago, IL is nearly set. According to the fight promotion’s web site, the first card is shaping up like this:
Main Card:
Jeff Monson (23-7) vs. Mike Russow (9-1)
Daiju Takase (7-11) vs. Terry Martin (16-4)
Alberto Crane (8-2) vs. Clay French (14-2)
Tony Fryklund (14-9) vs. Brian Gassaway (25-17-1)
Jeff Cox (9-6) vs. Bart Palaszewski (28-11)
Taiwan Howard (6-1) vs. Rory Markham (14-4)
James Giboo (11-2) vs. Mark Miller (9-3)
Herc Hayes (7-5) vs. Kerry Schall (22-9)
Rob Kimmons (15-3) vs. Hector Urbina (11-3)
Aaron Rosa (10-2) vs. Ron Fields (18-24-1)
Preliminary Card:
Dom O’Grady (4-0) vs. Mike Stumpf (8-1)
Joe Jordan (40-11) vs. Ryan Williams (6-1)
Christian Reynosa (6-2) vs. Josh Hosman (7-3-1)
SI.com learned Tuesday that the leading candidate to face the gangly wrestler is Brazilian middleweight Fabio Negao, owner of an 8-3 record. Splitting his last six bouts, Negao is coming off a loss in December to Rousimar Palhares, as well as two other defeats by Demian Maia (choke) and Ray Lazama (KO). South African middleweight Trevor Prangley had been discussed as a potential Lindland foe, but Affliction’s decision to pit Lindland against Negao appears close to final.

Mirko suffers an injury....
Mirko Cro Cop recently released a statement stating that he has suffered a minor leg injury forcing him to postpone his June 14th fight with Jerome LeBanner. The fight will now happen on July 20th. Below is the statement released by Cro Cop:
"Yes, I'm going to fight on July 20. I was looking forward to appearing on the DREAM 4 card on June 15 and I based my preparations on that. I suffered a minor leg injury last week, but it doesn't affect my trainings. During a wrestling session, I slipped and felt pain in my left knee, but the medical exams have confirmed that no damage was done. I'm wearing a special bandage just as a precaution."

Glad Nick is back on the card...maybe...lol
if it doesn't affect his training then what's the problem???
Mirko seems to be a very odd fella. Since I have started following his career I have summed up some things about him.
-He doesn't like competing too much
-He obsessively loves to train. If he could get paid to train and not fight that’s what he would do.
-He is a manic depressive
-He fiercely loves his country
-He always thinks about retiring
-He loves Jean-Claude Van Damme
AA vs Ben Rothwell at Affliction in California, not Dallas dammit...is a go.
This payroll will be insane...I am assuming they know they will lose millions on the card so my guess is they have a 2 or 3 fight strategy...but wow...how can they afford that first card payroll that will be between 6 and 7 million...plus other expenses?!?!?
