2008 could be AJ's crowning achievement as a head coach of the year.

This will be the beginning of a Dallas Dynasty. And SpursTalk will give props to the brave Mav fans who take time to post here..........

:sleep cheap talk...

you do realize that people will respect Dallas 0% until they win a championship, right? The past two postseasons have been disastrous, historic, record-breaking, colossal failures...no way around it.

I'm not saying they can't do it, but expect no respect.

finals chokers and first round flameouts...unless this team spent time on the sport psychologists coach this summer, i don't see how they'll get over their demons. i would call them the buffalo bills of the nba but the bills only choked when the got to the big game.

Parent poster is trolling, but I'll settle for one. Spurs can have their dynasty, if the Mavs fulfill a destiny as the Red Sox of the NBA, that's good enough for me.

No respect? Give us some credit, we're better than the Grizzlies.

The past two postseasons have been disastrous, historic, record-breaking, colossal failures...no way around it.

Lots of adjectives there. Mavs aren't the only team to give up a 2-0 lead. Hint Hint. Getting to the Finals and beating the Spurs along the way counts as a breakthrough. Our team is still very young too.

I'm not saying they can't do it, but expect no respect.

That's just asinine.

I though I was supposed to book it that the Mavs were going to be the 2007 champs? :)

Better than the Griz? Way better.

Respect? Depends on what you are looking for.

The respect as a title contender, I would agree.

The same respect afforded title winners? No.

Well, according to people putting the cart way before the horse. I'm not one of those people. Beating the Spurs is a 50/50 proposition in my book. Getting back to the Finals is 50/50 as well. Considering Miami won three games by a grand total of 6 points, winning one if/when we get there is 50/50.

The respect as a title contender, I would agree.

That's the only respect I'm asking for.

The same respect afforded title winners? No

More than fair.

You have to actually win a title, well, at least 3 titles, to become a dynasty. Let us know when you'll actually get that first one

The reason that persons like MAVTALKER post here is that they are suffering from deep seeded feelings of inferiority due to never having won anyting in franchise history. After getting swept by the lowly Warriors probably about half of the 'mavs' male fans needed an 18 month supply of Cialis. That said Cuban will be long dead before Dalass wins 4 titles.

Giving up a 2-0 lead in a 2nd round series against the 3peet Lakers is not the same as beating the best teams in the NBA and getting a 2-0 lead against the Heat and then losing 4 straight. :lol In the Finals???? A little too much pressure I guess. 4 for 4!

And saying the Mavs are younger and the Spurs are old and fading went out of style like 3 yrs ago. How long have people been saying this? And let's face it, among your big contributors, who are really that young? Stack was the one guy that showed up in the playoffs this year and he's older than Fin I think. Dirk is what 29 or so? How many titles did TD have by then? And who looked better this year anyway? It's getting late for him. And the young nucleus of JHo and Harris is not making me lose any sleep for what's to come. :p: It's all about Dirk. The Mavs could have a bunch of 25 yr olds around him, Dirk is the only one that really matters. He wil be the reason you can or can't get a title. And he's flushed 2 seasons down the toilet lately.

And saying the Mavs are younger and the Spurs are old and fading went out of style like 3 yrs ago.

Where did I say the Spurs were too old?

How long have people been saying this?

I don't know, but it's not true and who cares? Both the Mavs and Spurs are going to be contenders for the next 3-4 years if they keep their rosters intact.

And let's face it, among your big contributors, who are really that young?

Dirk - 29.
Josh - 26
Devin - 25
Jet - 30

It's getting late for him.

If Duncan is 31 and is expected to stay at an elite level until he's 34 or 35, then Dirk has 6 prime years left. Pick a lane please.

And the young nucleus of JHo and Harris is not making me lose any sleep for what's to come.

Not so much Devin maybe, but Josh and Dirk together forces the Spurs to play small. Josh gets better every year. 19 and 7 his fourth year in the League at the age of 25. Those were career highs. Every year he's come back better than before. We're set at forward for the next 6 years, he's got a pretty reasonable cap figure as well. Finley and Bradley's dead money comes off the books next summer, so our cap situation will be decent. Our window of opportunity with this crew has 3 more years to go at least.
