Bryant prosecutor seeks $200,000 in additional funding for caseFRISCO, Colo. (AP) _ The prosecutor in the rape case against Kobe Bryant has asked for nearly $200,000 next year to handle expenses, including the hiring of experts on sexual assault and trauma.

District Attorney Mark Hurlbert said the money would be in addition to his $1.8 million base request for 2004 from the four counties he serves.

``We've never done a trial like this,'' he told county officials Thursday. ``No one in the state has ever done a trial like this.''

He asked for $45,500 on expert witnesses and $143,000 for extra staffing, said Krista Flannigan, his spokeswoman. Those witnesses include specialists in rape trauma and a jury consultant, she said.

Summit County Commission chairman Gary Lindstrom said he expects his county to approve the request along with Eagle, Clear Creek and Lake counties.

Bryant, 25, is accused of raping a 19-year-old employee at a resort where he was staying in June. The NBA star is scheduled to appear Thursday for a preliminary hearing.

Earlier this year, Eagle County approved $105,000 for expenses in the Bryant case this fiscal year, which ends Dec. 31. link (http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/gen/wire?messageId=24275704)
