barbosa or devin harris? i'm leaning toward harris, even though leandro was the 6th man of the year in 07.

Look at our frontcourt. If we're playing two bigs then it's harder to driver on us. With only one big on the floor (a la against Dallas) we can't shot block as much and scrubs like Harris can tear us apart.

but given that rationale, then the answer isn't as clear cut. barbosa performed poorly in 07 but against a different defensive set than what harris got. if they face the same defense, who performs better?

Barbosa played poorly because he was injured and couldn't hit his shots. He had surgery on his elbow after the season.

Nash was mostly shut down by Bowen/Parker's improving D and Tim's incredible help. He turned it over like a machine. Love the guy, but the only PG who gave us any problems this year's playoffs was Williams, who was a fearless stud like Mike Bibby in the 2000 (2001?) playoffs against the Lakers. Deron is already a better player than Bibby has ever been though.

We simply underestimated little Devin Harris in 06. He kicked the $h!t out of us. I thought he was awesome personally. I do think however think that if he was a serious threat at the beginning of he series we wouldn't have let him go off for what he did.
We were simply unABLE to stop Deron Williams.

He was injured, had a tear in his elbow and had surgery as soon as the playoffs were over. Also, he isn't really a point guard in the true sense, more a shooting guard.

Barbosa never does anything against us really, and seems to give everyone else fits...Harris doesn't seem to do anything against anyone but us.
That was sweet when Richardson just flat out abused and used Harris on that block.

Harris how no jumpshots and gets away with more flops as "offensive fouls" than any other nba player...
Barbosa got owed because of D Antoni and his poor coaching. Barbosa is not a PG and he should stop playing him as such. More to that, they don't run the right offense through Barbosa. PLus the Spurs D on him was great.
Harris got extrememly lucky against the Spurs in 06.....just like the rest of the Mavs teams thanks to the refs. I wouldn't put too much stock in him. :lol I'd take Barbosa over him any day of the week.

2. seek psychiatric help. it's a message board and you're upset people are posting their thoughts on it
3. as my second post pointed out, i was rewatching the spurs-suns games and saw how crappy leandro had it and how he won the 6th man award while harris is now in trade discussions but whipped through the spurs in 06
4. harris, again, ripped through the spurs in 06; leandro just won the 6th man award, he can't be too shabby

2. same as #1
3. we were prepared for leandro, AND as other have pointed out, apparently his elbow was jacked up.
4. "ripped" implies that he dominated us throughout the whole series... of players that dominated us in that series, Devin Harris does not stick out. harris had a few good spurts and that's it. He was not a focal point of our defense and he got some LUCKY ASS shots to bounce in. Granted some came at terrible times for us, but harris is not as good of a finisher as 2005 wcsf would have some of you believe. do you watch devin harris other than when he plays the spurs? Leandro Barbosa is WAY better than harris. but harris sucks... so what does that say about barbosa?

3-4. this was what this thread was all about and really the only response i was looking for. i'm not advocating either player to start for the spurs or be traded to come to the spurs or any other nonsense, just looking for comparisons on why one faired the way he faired.
5. the thread is on two pages and has had nearly 50 responses. hardly horrible.

In a playoff series, Barbosa showed he is too one dimensional to be a factor. Against the Mavs last year, another one dimensional player (Harris) got to the rim at will. Is he better at it than Barbosa? Nope. But we played small against the Mavs and gave them an NBA title on a silver platter (that steak must have been too tough for them though).
Harris has no jumper. Barbosa you just have to be near him.

Harris as an actual point guard isnt very good imo, and has shown very little improvement in his first 3 years with how high of a pick he was.
