I read some where he said he has 5 more seasons left. So my guess would be 2012? I would of course like him to play more but hey I guess he wants to go out on top. My dream would be that we win a championship this yr and TD would of course be a main factor and we repeat for the first time. Then In 2012 Duncan has a role like david did in 03 and he goes out like a champion with his 6th ring! lol

He's not athletic or quick, and his game is based primarily on fakes and his footwork...so with that being said, he could be effective for a long, long time.

15 or 16 if he avoids major injury.

If he screws off from 1 Nov til 1 April, probably 5 or 6 more seasons.

I think his desire will go out before his body does, although watching videos of his first few years, he's really lost a lot physically.

My guess is he could at least go until 40, if he doesn't get sick of playing and want to spend much more time with his family

I have a feeling he'll retire when he's 34-35.

What will Tim's next contract look like? Will there be a next Spurs contract for him?

When his contract ends and when Amy says stop. She's the one who takes care of him and is his sounding board when he's off the hardwoods.
When he's ready, he'll ask her one summer day in mid July what she thinks, she'll say quiet words, and then there'll be another parade but this time one of memories that will float down on a river of tears, mostly mine.

He could play for a long time if he wants. He isn't defined by his athleticism (though it is underrated) anyway and his footwork is so good he could probably score 16-18 ppg in his sleep when he was 45.

Tim will either retire in 5 or 6 seasons. He could play longer in a lesser role, but he wants the big bucks.....

I think Duncan will play as long as his body lets him and as long as the Spurs are contenders.

I don't see him hanging around on a subpar team or coming off the bench.

I never thought of Duncan as an "about the money" kind of guy.

Tim Duncan just made the All-NBA First Team, in his 11th season in the NBA....

He said something about 5 more years..but somehow I feel he's going to stick around longer than that.

I hope he play his whole life with the Spurs. I hope 'till he's 36 or something

Until his Knee snaps, and that could be during any game at any time

On the other hand, there's a very predictable chance your neck gets snapped at the next GTG.

Tim is now 31. David played effectively until he was 37 with floating particles in his back, so I would think Tim could play that long, if he wanted to, if not a year or two more. His health is much better than David's was. The important question is how long WILL he play? If he plays to David's retirement age, that gives him 6 more seasons. That's probably at least 2-3 more rings. I would think a lot of it would have to do with how deeply does he want to chisel his legacy into NBA history.
