Since Duncan, KG, Dirk and Amare are all listed as forwards, do you think Duncan will still get voted to start?

Based on numbers, perhaps KG and Amare deserve to start. They should have moved Amare to Centers, but I guess it was too late.

Duncan is an easy vote in starter along with KG. Duncan gets a lot of love from the media.

The fans vote the starters, not the media.

If they put Amare at center imagine KG,TD,and Amare starting that would be fun.

I'm not even sure Duncan deserves to start this season. They should be able to pick 3 forwards and just not pick a center :)

I want Manu to be an all star,

Hopefully Yao will have a minor injury before the All Star Game that allows Duncan or Amare to start.

Center is such an obsolete term anyway. They need to vote on Point Guard, Wings (2) and Big Men (2). Or, if you prefer, 2 guards and 3 forwards.

I hope TD doesn't get selected to start. Just like the Olympic experience, I want him to enter the playoffs with a giant chip on his shoulder, wanting to just destroy everyone in his way.

Dude, i dont think the privelege of NOT starting will puta huge chip on his shoulder, it's just the ASG. But i really hope that the Spurs dominate in the post season, i want them to abuse every single team they play.
The key to guarding Seattle hopefulyl will be discovered by then, and the Sonics will come up short. Duncan will be better than Amare in the playoffs because of his experience.

Last yr's All-Star last minute win was made possible bec of Duncan.(& Shaq's defense),(note: KG wouldn't take the winning shot). Now the 2-time MVP is the last option? Let's not make Duncan a Malone, ok? :depressed

I said based on stats that KG and Amare should start at forwards. Where did I say Dirk over Duncan?

by the way Kori, if the Spurs will be @ the top of the Western conference standing before the All-Star game, is it possible for Pops to coach?

If the Spurs are at the top, yes Pop would coach.

If the Spurs are at the top, yes Pop would coach.Wow! thanks! that would be nice. If I remember correctly when Nelson coached the West 2 yrs ago he brought along with him 3 players. I hope at least 2 or 3 players from the Spurs could play this yr. :elephant :elephant

Duncan has got lower scores this year simply because pop doesn't need to play him as much as last years because the way bench guys are playing. That is limiting his mvp options also this year imo

this is also keeping him fresher for playoffs to though

Duncan is the best player in the game today, IMO. KG is a close second. It's unfortunate for Amare and Dirk that they play in the West, because they will never be deserving of All Star status when they're behind those two. I don't think either one is as good, or ever will be, because they aren't as smart, or as complete, of players.

If Duncan doesn't get voted in this year I suspect he'll be the coaches choice. He's widely respected as the best player in the game.

Yao and Brad Miller will be the centers in the west, as they should be.

Tracy McGrady, Nash, and Manu should be the guards, not sure who should be picked fourth. Ray Allen?

If you go by stats, sure give Amare the vote, but it seems like every time I've seen Phoenix play this year, damn near all of his points come from standing under the basket, letting Nash dribble to the hoop like a maniac, and then give him a picture perfect dish. Hell, Rasho could be putting up 20 a night with feeds like that.

TD 23.3 ppg(35 min/game)
KG 23.3 ppg(39.4min/game) :blah

if we add the difference of 4.4minute=
TD could be averaging 26 ppg.
note: didn't play on those trash minutes. :blah
TD>KG

Kori, how can you say that if you go by the stats somebody like Stoudemire should start? Do you mean if you go by points per game and FG%? The only way I can see anybody making this argument is if in fact those are the only stats you are using. Duncan is doing far better than Amare in some other categories. In fact, if you take all the stats into consideration, you could make a better case for Dirk than Amare. That said, Duncan and KG are the two best forwards in the league hands down, and I think most basketball fans realize this regardless of whether guys like dirk and Amare are scoring more. Duncan will start.
