Hoopshype is reporting that Mickael Pietrus has "all but decided to return to the Warriors this season." For all those that were still hopeful that the French athlete Pietrus might sign a contract with the Spurs, it now looks very very unlikely.

It appears very, very unlikely that any FA will sign a contract with the Spurs.

Does it mean we will have a roster spot for Mahinmi?

Does this mean Matt Barnes will be looking for a home?

Possibly means, they could not agree on a contract extension & he will play for the QO next season & then become an unrestricted FA.

Exactly.

very likely. the addition of Wright will cause harrington to play more minutes at SF (in the Barnes role) and the addition of Belinelli will cause Sjax to also play more SF. there are just no minutes for Barnes. he is the odd man out.
considering his asking price (even if reduced now that no team offered him MLE), he likley won't be a Spurs, unless Barry can be dumped somehow.

Mahimni is a lie... he'll never make it here...

from what Ive heard he signed for 1 yr @ $3.4mil, which is fairly cheap given the contracts that Kapano, Stack and Mo Pete received. You would think the Spurs or Mavs or someone else could step up with a better offer

I think it's fairly obvious that the plan all along was if he couldn't get a big extension from GS then he would sign the one year QO then become a free agent next year.

Makes more sense for him, if he is indeed set on coming to SA to play with Parker, to come as a FA next year and get a better deal.

How could anyone want to break up the team that beat Dallas?

Dallas is small potatoes. :p: Golden State is looking to build a team to beat the more dominating teams, like Utah. :lol

Agree with what some have said that him taking a qualifying offer actually increases his chances of being a Spur in the long-run.

Whereas before it would've likely been in a S&T effort, which are usually difficult, he can now work hard for this upcoming season and potentially earn a big paycheck next off-season.

Not sure it'll be with the Spurs though....

This was all a misunderstanding. Somebody heard Pop talking about how wonderful Petrus is, and thought he was talking about the player.

This almost insures Pietrus will NOT stay with the Warriors...beyond this year. Having a player accept your year 5 qualifying offer is tantamount to him packing his bags one year early. So few players have actually done this. I can only think of two off the top of my head: Rasho and Kandi man. They both left their teams.
