The trailer looks awesome and even though as of recently John Murphy's In The House/In A Heartbeat (originally from 28 days/weeks later) has been used in several trailers (Death Sentence, I Know Who Killed Me) it syncs best with this I hear the makers are aiming for a PG-13 rating compared to the original NC-17 they have edited out foul language and changed the color of spraying blood from the original script to do so. There is a possibility of an unrated DVD though..
and now I see that Crispin Glover aka George Mcfly will provide the voice for Grendel :tu

It doesn't look bad, but I'm disappointed that it isn't live action. That kinda kills it for me.
Plus, "The 13th Warrior" was the best adaptaion of Beowulf.

Yeah that was kinda a letdown for me they made Grendels mom look exactly like her even all the other characters don't look exactly like the actors who do the voices and the trailer did focus to much on Grendels mom rather than grendel himself or even Beowulf

I have a rule not to see movies after i have read the book.. it's always disappointing.
altho the one exception to that would be LOTR... sure they cut some fun stuff.. but you dont; feel like you miss it.

That was actually an adaptation of the book "Eaters of the Dead". It's a pretty good read.

But, it had many of the characters from Beowulf . . . including Grendel and Grendel's mother.
Still, the best Beowulfesque movie.

Which itself was based on Beowulf; Crichton's attempt to prove the poem was interesting.

It looks lame. I'd rather sit through The Chronicals of Narnia.

Because Rober Zemekis is in love with that motion capture technology he helped to create.

yeah true. his motion capture stuff looks stupid IMO because it's just CGI trying to look real. There's no artistic reason whatsoever to do that. The movie would look way better if it was just live action. Richard Linklater's animation in Waking Life and A Scanner Darkly is much more effective.

You're right about the motion capture shit.
In The Polar Express, all the characters look like lifeless, souless puppets.
I'm not that crazy about it.
But, the animation looks a little better this time around.

The mo-cap shit is stewpid. If they're going to go that route, they should just make it look fully animated. Animation that's so realistic just comes across as... wrong.
And they ruined Angelina Jolie, which I didn't even think was possible.
Naked real Angelina Jolie coming out of a lake = pure, unadulterated hotness. Naked CG Angelina Jolie coming out of a lake = shiny, creepy, plastic looking.
