I think you are A moron troll.

No chance...solely based on the tons of sports writers who were wondering if they could take their vote back last year. No matter what, Dirk won't get it. I'd say Kobe, Dwyane, or even Duncan are more likely.

Dirk will not finish in the top 5 for MVP voting. You can print that

Dirk shouldn't even be on the MVP ballot ever again in his lifetime.

Tony Parker has to be on that list. As last year's Finals MVP, he has credibility. He will be 26 next year, which is often the best year in a player's career. There is a good chance he will be shooting the 3-pointer. Also, he has "star power" by being married to Eva Longoria. Hopefully he will have a great season.

Well, the Mavs will need something to celebrate...

It all depends on who is good next year. Whoever is the best player on the best team usually gets it.

Once again, the media will be looking for excuses to give one of them the MVP.

One dark horse: I don't think they will, but if Utah wins 60, Deron Williams might win it.

my thoughts exactly.

i'm not even gonna throw a guess at MVP. too many "if this" and "if that"'s to consider...
like IF Lebron can step it up?
IF Kobe can score less then 30 a game and still get is team in a 4+ playoff seed?
IF the sun turns purple and monkeys fly out my ass??

damn, it;s not even August yet. :lol this off season is friggin long. I'm ready for some pre-season match ups already.
tick tock tick tock.

:lol Even if the Mavs have the BEST record against next season and Dirk averages 30 and 15.....they STILL won't vote for him for MVP.

My guess is it'll come down to Nash or Lebron, with Kobe being the dark horse.

Well, in fairness, he didn't say who do we think will WIN MVP, just who do we think will BE MVP. Since the MVP hasn't actually won the MVP in years, that makes for an interesting debate.

I think it would be awesome if Nash retired with half a dozen regular season MVP awards and zero finals appearances.

Duncan

justanotherspursfan
07-29-2007, 08:26 PM
It would be a disgrace to the MVP if Nash wins anymore awards...he has as many as Duncan!
And Duncan is 4-0 in titles and 3-0 in Finals MVPs. I think it would be a perfect illustration of what the MVP award means -- nothing.

For the past three years the MVP award has meant zip. Why worry about it now?

Depends on who wins the most games usually. I think Duncan's time for MVP has passed. He'll be on all the short lists and get solid mentions, but players don't usually have a several year hiatus (eg. more than four) from their first MVP trophy and then come back and win again. Since 1956 the only ones who managed that feat were Jordan and Jabbar. (For you stats fan bettors, that means your last name must end in a J to win)

That's not saying he shouldn't win again, merely that the voters are bored with him and the Spurs. If the Spurs win again, they'll simply say we're too good and give it to someone whose team played better than expected.

So I think the voters will be looking at the new crop of stars like Wade, LEBRon, Boozer, Melo, etc rather than at the old stars like Kobe, TD, Nash and Garnett. Actually Dirk might make it if the Mavs improve to the Championship.

Nahtanoj

Heart says Kobe Bryant.

Head usually thinks Duncan.

But then it'll probably be LeBron James, then the media can go have their orgasm...
