Not to harp on this one but I believe he would be a great fit in San Antonio...

Hard nosed defender, with a much improved jumper....

Pepe Sanchéz

or bring back the Brazilian...

Alex Garcia

Both would be cheap...

Thoughts????

Of the two, I think I'd have a bit more confidence in Sanchez. That being said, I would rather find more options.

I agree... I just don't know how many legit PG options the Spurs are considering..

The benefit is that either of these players would be content with a roster spot and give you 100% every chance they had.

Not to mention that Sanchez's ability at running offensive sets is also much improved... He is a true point guard (pass-first) and has shown in the last two international tournaments that he can be deadly from the outside. It doesn't hurt his cause that playing alongside Ginobili and Oberto would allow him to aclimate to the Spurs' system that much quicker....

If only he were invited to Camp....

The benefit to going the route of Alex... is that he gives you the speed to keep up with the Iverson's, the Barbosa's and Harris' of the League. The Spurs' speed would not drop off while Tony was resting on the bench...

Is Sanchez capable of putting the nose to the grindstone defensively? How old is he? I remember him at Temple, but that seems like 12 or 13 years ago.

I think there are better options elsewhere

Maybe the Mavs release Barea manana

I would scoop him up so quickly if he were let go. But I just see no way that Dallas lets him walk. Hes clearly talented.

Dont know if anythings official, and I doubt that the Mavs would ever let him walk, but I just hadnt heard any official word yet, and they have to like 12 tonight I think

Any of these guys willing to play for less than free? E.g., pay the Spurs for the chance?

I think it would be worth it for the sole reason of seeing a spurs uniform with the name "Sanchez" on the back.

I'd take him. But first we gotta get rid of Barry or Beno. Or both :).

According to NBATV, they picked up his option and will be under contract for only next season.

I would bring in Sanchez anytime, much like I would bring in any member of the Argentinian team.
Sanchez isn't old, he's 30.
don't know, if he's a good friend of Manu, but I'm guessing it, considering that they grew up together in Bahia Blanca. Sanchez was very good in the world cup last year.
he can defend and is smart. not flashy. would be a good back-up IMO.

Sanchez? Maybe. I am sure the Spurs can do better, but don't want to dish out the $$$

Sanchez would have obvious nicknames if he became Spur.

Whoever we sign to replace Beno will have to understand that there is almost no minutes available behind Tony and Jacque. that translates into minimum money---certainly less than Beno. I thiink the Spurs will live with Beno & Brent for another season unless someone makes Godfather-like offer. We will sign a prospects at pg, sf & Pf to go in practice and play in Austin.
