Mr. Peabody
07-31-2007, 08:17 AM
Today is my last day at my current job. I have been at this job for two years, but I have decided to leave and start my own business. I am scared as hell. Goodbye guaranteed income, hello staying up nights worrying about how to pay the bills....

Good Luck!

I still remember how scared I was when I decided to create my first company - turned out to be one of my best decisions ever.

Good luck! My husband went into private practice two years ago after working for a company and having guaranteed income. It was very stressful there for a bit.

Just promise me we won't see you in commericials during soap operas and on the back of phone books! :lol

You won't see me in commercials, but I may have a booth at the flea market if my practice doesn't work out.

It's already packed in the box. I don't think they'll do inventory in my office until next week, so I am taking as much as I can.

And while you're at it, we live in a metro area so it would helpful to put the area code since not everyone around here has the same area code. Just a thought. :spin

What made you quit?

Did they switch the Swingline stapler to the Boston stapler?

What made you quit?

Did they switch the Swingline stapler to the Boston stapler?

No, still got the Swingline.

I quit because my career wasn't heading in the direction I envisioned for myself and the hours were a bitch. Plus, I always figured that someday I would have my own practice. Now is as good a time to start as any.

My own law practice. For the past two years, I have been working at a large law firm.

The great thing about it. You make the decisions. If they
are right, then you make the money. If they are wrong,
then you have learned. "I want do that again".

Heck, you have been hungry before, remember college?
You will make it. No problem! I may need a good lawyer
one of these days. So don't quit posting.

Exactly. Congrats, Mr. P. You'll still be working your ass off, but you'll eventually reap the rewards of your own work. The path to capital partner in a large firm is fraught with 100 hour weeks, politics, and family estrangement. You made the right choice.

Man, all the best luck and if you get to market and sell your own stuff, let us know.

I've got two jobs and I already know which one I'm quitting first!
I'll keep the other for a long, long time..............
