Yep. It's pretty loaded. Rear parking sonar, power outside mirrors with image lights, Alloy wheels, 6-disc CD changer, 400W inverter, leather steering wheel, roof rack, towing hitch, rock rails, skid plate, and some other stuff. I like it.

I think they look alright. The only problem I'd have with it is that it's a new model. It usually takes a manufacturer 3-4 years to work out all the bugs on something new. I bought an Explorer Sport trac the first year they came out, and after a few years, it developed all kinds of problems. Never again.

At least it's Jap, so you know the engine will run for a long time if you take care of it.

My ex-boyfriend actually has a FJ Cruiser, and absolutely loves the car. He does a lot of outdoor activities like camping, hiking, as well as off roading so he gets great use out of the car. When they first came out i thought they were ugly, but they have grown on me, the black color choice was a great decision! Hope you enjoy your car Tlong

Love the way it looks from the outside, but I didn't like the lack of visibility from the driver's seat - small windows and big blind spots. I would have still bought one if they made a hybrid version though.

Ya, the lack of visibility is the biggest issue I see as well. I don't think I would like it if I was short. Fortunately, I'm 6-1 so I see over the dash just fine. I'm going to get a couple of round convex mirrors to stick on the side mirrors as well. That will negate the blind spots. I really like it though. I like the look of it and it will run over just about anything off-road.

Mine is like the last one with black. They have A/C, 4 cup holders, 2 water bottle holders, backup sonar, 400W 6 disc CD changer with sub-woofer, instrument cluster with compass, outside temp guage, and inclinimator, cruise control, steering wheel radio and volume controls, leather wrapped steering wheel, rubber-like floor mats, water resistant fabric on the seats. Other stuff too.

The only major issue I've heard (from a buddy that works at one of the Toyota dealerships) is that the angle of the windshield is too upright, which may cause the windshield to crack more easily than other cars.

Besides that, everything else is minor.

We both like it. Alot.
We tested one for the weekend last year.... ohh sooosweet!

We'd get one but it's just not practical for us... we're gonna have more kids.. and we never go on trips anymore... maybe when the kids are older - like have thier adult teeth or somethign and we are doing more outdoorsy things we'd get one.

Actually it would be nice to take to carlsbad in the spring, :lol but I can;t buy a car just for that one week.

:tu good choice tlong.

For my Birthday about a month ago, wifey said she wanted to go out and get me a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited since she knew I liked them. My better judgement got the best of me, and I told her we needed something more practical for a family of 5. Two weeks later she buys a Honda Odyssey mini-van. Man, family life makes you such a weenie.

dont know if you guys ever get anything like that as trade...just curious.Trading a boat for an RV doesn't usually go well money wise on the customers side of things since we only deal in RV's not boats. We've taken that stuff in the past but just end up flipping it for wholesale to someone locally. In the last year we've just gotten away from it completely.

I'm hoping to get myself a nice bayboat in the 20' range in the next 6 months. What have you looked at so far? Where do you fish? What kind of fishing do you like? I'd definitely do something before next summer because we are expecting a few rate increases for luxury financing in the first and second quarter of next year..

Also don't spend any money on weight distribution set-ups, reciever hitches, brake controls, wire jobs and swaybars. I'll get you most of that for free or cost. I go to central Oregon a lot and there are lots of places to use the 4X4 there.I bought a used one from Red McCombs, I forgot what year it was but it was when they switched from square headlights to round ones....I'm thinking 98' or something. Nice Jeep but I kept having problems with it. Then I found a bunch of sand scattered throughout the vehicle. I quickly traded it in because I was pretty sure it was used as a rental someone near some beaches.

Well ive been mostly looking at used.

I found the absolute perfect deal on a 23" Welcraft center console...basically the exact boat i want... with a rebuilt Johnson outboard motor, fairly old but in excellent shape and the guy was basically giving it away at the Randolph Lemon lot. I saw it at lunch time, phoned my wife, she agree'd to pursue it...called him...he got back to me that evening that it had just sold that day.

UGHH!!!!

Since then i haven't really found much within my price range. I think in about 2 years my price range will open up quite a bit, but i am antsy and i want something sooner than that.

I really enjoy offshore fishing. I grew up with my dad's 24" Boston Whaler, going offshore almost every other weekend deepsea fishing. I really want to get back into it again.

If you are serious about a bay boat...my uncle is selling a really really nice Majek 22" bayboat...it is decked out, as he used to be a guide...if there is an acessory out there, this damn thing has it...i was considering it for a while, but really want to do the offshore thing.

BacktoBasics

No I work and live in Corpus. A Majek would be nice and 22' is a perfect size for me but I'm financially 6-9 months out :lol although I've been saying that for 6 months.

I've been leaning to the 1900 Bay Max http://www.tidewaterboats.net/Index.html but or the Gulf Coast http://www.gcmboats.com/new_gulf_coast_boats.htm.

I'll stick to the bays although getting out into the deep stuff would be great. Make sure to get a "survey" done if you buy used I've heard some horror stories.

Now we have a kiddo on the way, so im trying to deny it, but i have a feeling that is going to set me back a bit more in my quest.Yeah the kid will change things. My son is 1 and a half and its certainly made for some financial restructuring, but it'll depend on your current situation too. I don't have much in the way for babysitters so we don't get out too often. Keeping the kid in diapers at home and out of the public eye has saved me tons in clothing, he's out growing shit every two months.

Sounds like you and I need to do the same thing and thats just pull the fucking trigger or get off the pot altogether. Since I've decided to get a boat I've stopped shore and pier fishing entirely....I need to hit the water. Damn us for being responsible.

Soul_Patch
08-01-2007, 10:41 AM
yea...my issue is convincing the wife. Every once and a while i can swing her to the agreement, then of course i cant find anything to buy to seize the moment!

then she wisens up and starts getting all realistic and shit...and then i gotta battle back into it again next time i find a decent deal.

i think once we pay off my student loan, that is going to free up about 500 a month...that should be a good time to pounce! lets stay in debt baby! its better!

BacktoBasics
08-01-2007, 10:49 AM
500 a month would definitely help. They do long term financing on boats too. 10 and 12 year notes on anything inside of 3 years old or new it would only run around 250 a month with tier 1 or 2 credit....675 FICO or higher. Add an extra 50 a month to each payment and trade up with positive equity after 5 years. Thats a good rule of thumb with recreational financing.
