After crashing to the floor on an undercut by Sonics' guard Luke Ridnour on a rebound in the third quarter, Mavs forward Dirk Nowitzki stayed in the game and finished with 27 points, seven rebounds, and two blocks. According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Nowitzki suffered a lower back contusion.
