Manu Ginobili signed an agreement with the Governor of the Buenos Aires Province, Felipe Solá, for the construction of a sports complex in Bahia Blanca. (Manu's city and the historical basketball capital of Argentina).

Half of the 8.600 seat Stadium will be at the expense of the Buenos Aires province. The other half of the money will come from Fundación Ginobili.

It will be ready in 20 months.

I love how our players treat San Antonio as their hometown all the while being good to their original hometowns as well. :)

Nice for Bahia Blanca, not Argentina. For us living in Buenos Aires, its does squat. Still, its a nice gesture

^^ Sorry Manumaniac it was just a global statement...I know, it wasn't a knock on you, just clarifying. I mean, lets say someone builds a stadium in SA, one wouldn't say "great for the United States" but rather "great for San Antonio". That's all I meant to say. Basically I'm just pissed they didn't build it closer :lol

Bet that'll be a badass stadium. Its only going to have seating for 8,000 people. Small by American standards

Yup you sure did well and your example is really on target :lol but I meant it's cool for Argentina to have athletes who are willing to invest on facilities in their homeland...
They help developping basket ball by giving structure, that's not cool because Argie NT is good enough already :bang

Does anyone else think it's funny that it will be ready in "20 months" and not "a little less two years"?

Emanuel Ginobili is named a UNICEF Goodwill ambassador.

Basketball player Emanuel "Manu" Ginobili will be presented next Thursday as the new UNICEF goodwill ambassador, in Buenos Aires.

This UN agency said today on a press release that as a goodwill ambassador, Ginobili, Olympic champion in 2004 and 3 times NBA Champion with the San Antonio Spurs, will have the compromise "To contribute with enthusiasm, Charisma and Personal capacity" to spread the values and collaborate with the work of the agency.

Manu will help to seek solutions to the different problems that affect the children in Argentina.

The Sportsman was chosen for " his compromise with the childhood, for his work with his foundation and the development of initiatives that promote the welfare of girls, boys and teenagers.

Ginobili, who is just 30 years old, is the best basketball player in Argentine history.

It looks like Manu has been pretty busy this summer (even though he's not playing with his NT) building stadiums, becoming an ambassador to UNICEF (I can see Manu eventually getting into some kind of politics after he retires), and holding basketball camps with his buddies (including Fabri) and old coach from his NT :) . It's good that he's doing all those things. I found these pics from his camp too. I kind of like their camp jerseys :p: .
