My friend just spoke to Devin Brown and he still hasn't signed with a team. He is supposedly in talks with the Lakers and the Cavs. What do you guys think of the Spurs signing him? I think it would actually be a good move.

Didn't starting and playing like a starter late in the season earn DB a contract with Hornets? who is signed in his place?

It's my understanding that he isn't signed with anyone... Maybe he had a player option or something?

The Spurs didn't re-sign him because his work ethic sucked. He was chronically late for practice. Some players just do better away from home and it's distractions.

I vividly remember the night I saw Will Perdue and his entourage at what used to be the Acapulco Fantasy on Industrial Drive in Leon Valley. That was one TALL m.f.!!! :dizzy

yawn.

they didn't resign him cuz they didn't have any money cuz they keep signing shitbags like bonner, vaughn, elson, butler and beno.

BTW, Devin Brown is better than at least 7 spurs currently under contract... drunk, without practice and high on crack.

quit being a fucking bitch.. this take about his work ethic is totally untrue.

shit.. he went from West Campus to the NBA and your short bus riding ass is still knocking him.

wake up.

The Hornets signed Morris Peterson and he seems to be the likely replacement for Devin. Plus, they just drafted Julian Wright and Adam Haluska, which means the passing of Desmond Mason won't effect them either. At the wings they look like this:

Morris Peterson (starter)
Peja Stojakovic (starter)
Rasual Butler (reserve)
Julian Wright (reserve)
Adam Haluska (active in case of injury)
Marcus Vinicius (project - D League)

I don't see a whole lot of room there for Devin. Plus, the Hornets like to go small and play 2 PGs on the floor at once with Chris Paul, Bobby Jackson and Jannero Pargo. That just means less time for the wings.

wake up.He was a star at West Campus. He was a star at UTSA. He was a journeyman in the NBA. Some players deal with that, some expect to have their nuts ridden by chodes like you their whole career.

He is more of a role player.....and a darn good one at that. He reminds me of a Mario Ellie type of player. Good all around game.....not amazing in any one aspect.

Are you pissed at him because you were the guy never picked in a pick up game?

What is your source for these allegations that you continue to spew out here?

They are all journeymen unless they are superstars. Duh!

Again, he is better than 7 of the guaranteed contract players now playing for the spurs.... when he is drunk, high on whatever, with no fucking practice.

You keep on choken RC and Pop's nuts.

If we could make him a backup PG, he'd be a great fit for us. Unfortunately, he's more of a SG and we don't need any more of them. And he's only getting older, is already at his max potential, Barry and Bonner's shooting make them better fits for us (while TD is still a Spur), etc.

You keep on choken RC and Pop's nuts.rc and pop keep winning championships and you keep complaining that they suck. if you know so much more than them, you should get a job in an nba front office and show them how it's done. but maybe you are the guy that never got picked for an important job.

get this straight. we ride the bandwagon, they drive it.

Unless the guy in question 1) is a borderline All-Star or 2) fits the exact need you've got, I don't think it's a good idea to bring someone back once they've had a shot with your club.

Bowen made a remark about Devin's work ethic on either KSAT or WOAI in which Bruce said that Devin's work ethic was dissappointing and that no player should take for granted the time and work it takes to get to this level and to stay there. But Bruce also said that Devin had responded very well and that He, Bruce, always stayed on him to make sure he didn't blow his chance at the NBA. I remember that, and I was surprised because you hardly ever hear about anything like that coming out of the Spurs camp. But I remember that interview, vividly.

Has nothing to do with championships.

:dizzyspurs choose professionalism over skill. that's part of the winning formula. the spurs, i know, are winners. you, i have no idea about. i'll take their judgement over yours.

and just for a sanity check: how many teams have decided they want some other less skilled player over devin brown's skill? spurs, jazz, and hornets. popovich, sloan, and byron scott.
