Clippers are really unlucky...first Livingston, now Brand!
The 2007- 08 season has gone.
However, in case they decide to go in a different direction, trying to develop the new talent (Thompson) waiting for a good draft lottery, they could re-visit the chance to sell Maggette (free agent after next season)...and I don't think that, now, the Brevin Knight deal has any more sense.
So a younger point man cames in mind : Beno!
Whattabout something like Beno + Barry + 2008 first Choice + a pair of second choices for Maggette?
any chance ?

Beno + Barry + 2008 first Choice should be enough.

Then again, since the Spurs 2nd round draft pics have tanked the last 5, why not give them up also?

Beno + Barry + 2008 first Choice + Scola rights should be enough. Oh that was already given to Houston.

I'm not clear on how Maggette would help this team.

He can't shoot, doesn't play much defense, and needs a LOT of touches to be effective.

barry+beno+mahinis rights + pick for him sounds like a fair deal

He's not a bad shooter just a bit steaky. He's got size and can rebound from the 3 spot. I think he fits in well.

Brand injury doesn't really mean that Maggette is available.
Maggette is still quite young and even if Clippers tank this year with Brand injury, They will need a player like him in 08-09.

The player that will likely be available at the deadline is Sam Cassell, not Maggette.

No offense but I do not follow your logic. How does dealing maggette now have anything to do with Brand being hurt?

Yep, I agree......saw him drop 36pts on the Lakers at the end of last season. :rolleyes

I don't think it's a reach to say Maggette is a terrible shooter. He is more of a scorer to me. I didn't see the Lakers game, but if he scores 36 at the end of the year, where was that all year long? And where was he scoring from? The line and at the basket mostly would be my guess.

Either way, I would still like him on this team because of the things he DOES do well and the potential he has at doing other things well on a team like ours. He provied the opposite of what Bowen does on offense (attacks the rim hard, gets to the line and makes them) and he rebounds from that spot. On a small lineup, you can even have both out there, and guys like Manu, Fin too to mix it up. Makes us way more flexible as a team. What I wouldn't like is for him to be overpaid, but otherwise, I'm on board.

I think his idea was that LA would go into full tilt tank mode, and be willing to trade a guy who might win them a few games with his shooting.

Still, if we didn't do it last year when we had an obvious need for it, you're talking about a front office that goes into 'content' mode the summers after winning a title.

He's a terrible shooter. No he has good mid-range but poor shoot selection. Doesn't mean the guy can't shoot he just needs better coaching.

I hear Tony Parker Spained his ankle. Does this mean TD is available since we will be looking in another direction??? Wheres the logic in this post?

Next year Maggette will be a free agent.
I know sterling said he's in love with him, but words are just words...next season they're going nowhere and Corey could opt to play for winning after a lot of losing years and a year of tanking.
Well, I know that money is never enough and Sterling will stille have the chance to pay him more than other teams...but ther's the chance, if the price is not right for mr. Sterling or the will of Corey is not to stay, that he will lose him for nothing.
So, her's the chance of a deal...

That's exactly what I was thinking. I don't see Brand's temporary injury as a reason to tank the season and trade all of your assets (especially ones you have committed to via contract offerings).
