Qyntel Woods
Age: 26
Last NBA job: New York (2005-06 season)
Woods is the only Comeback Kid in this discussion, far younger than anyone else here. But he's included for a couple reasons.

1. He's more likely than most to make it back to the league because of his age, even though he recently signed with perennial Greek club power Olympiakos. Woods has apparently shed some weight since a brief stint in the D-League last season and worked out for some NBA and European teams in Las Vegas last month during summer-league play.

2. Woods would come under closer-than-ever scrutiny if he does make it back to the NBA because of the unavoidable tie-in to Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick. Woods was released by Portland after pleading guilty to animal-abuse charges stemming from accusations in 2004 that he was pitting pit bulls against each other in dog fights.

No thanks.

I'd definately get rid of my season tickets if they signed this guy.

I remember when he was here in Portland. Dog fighting wasn't his only scrape with the law.

I don't want to see him on San Antonio's roster.

No it does not.

If theres one thing I like about Woods its that he got pulled over one time, asked for ID, and he hands the cop his basketball trading card and says "Dis me."

Gee, I Spur involved in dog fighting might create a whole new group of rabid (badaboom) fans.

In case no one on here knows it, San Antonio has had a long history of dog-fights out in Bexar county. One of the guys who had a pit and ran them was a Sheriff's deputy.

gotta agree with the Cards fan on this one.

I'm also curious as to why signing a guy like Woods would be considered "low risk". Financially maybe, but overall he is more high risk.

why if he causes a problem you cut him
make him a non guarantee contract like penny hardway!

yes, but that's a financial low risk.

he causes a problem (especially with the fervor surrounding dogfighting right now) and even if he's cut, the publicity would be "former spur qyntel woods", it could still cause problems after he's gone.

not to mention that holt markets this team on quality of its people. so he is more than "low risk."

and, being a dog owner, i'd just as soon not have to root for a POS like that. those activities are reserved for the lowest scum of the earth IMHO.
