Will Tim Duncan have a statue of himself created in front of the AT&T center when he retires? I've seen this done to Karl Malone in Utah at the Solutions arena. Will it happen to Duncan?

I'd make him a statue in front of my yard.

doesnt a bronze statue cost about 20k-200k?

which pose do you think is best?

him with 2 arms up?
him wrappin a ball like during pre-warmup?
one hand with finals trophy, other hand up holding the finals mvp?

Why do you think they cut James White when they did?

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I find the whole statue idea for anybody, sports figure or not, way too hokey.

Especially if they guy is still alive.

Considering that the current Spurs are better than Malone's Jazz and Jordan's Bulls ever were, he should get a statue like Malone and Jordan did.

I like the pregame pose of him wrapping the ball up.

The ball hug is cool because he's the only one who does it.

The Trophies in both hands is one of my favorite photos of him. (The '05 version.)

If Duncan gets a statue doesn't Robinson get one too?

If they did make a a statue, the one where he is leaning over in his stance where he gives the player a jab step and then shortly his bank shot.

So, if it's out of paper-mache, you're saying it's not out of the question?

Statues are kinda corny when the person is still alive, as has been mentioned, unless they're like close to death. I think a shrine in the stadium and maybe naming something after him, like one of the cross streets of the stadium would be fine.

The Jazz..yes!!!
Jordan's Bulls.......WHAT!?!?....that is just a homeristic statement.

I am huge Spurs fan but am realistic too. The comparison to the bulls in this instance is very misguided IMO.

I honestly don't think it's within the Spurs personality to have "Statues" of their star players. George Gervin doesn't have a statue....to my knowledge, does he? I mean, obviously that's a tad different he never led his team to championships and all the stuff...but still. I could see shrine like areas dedicated to very influential players at the entrace of whatever arena the team plays at instead of statues.

My understanding is that the installation of a large statue can cost $20,000.00 to $200,000.00, not counting the actual cost of the piece of art. In other words, I think you're a bit low.

Duncan is a fantastic citizen and a model sports figure, but I think statues are just silly. ANYONE who deserves to have a statue made out of them would probably be dismayed by the same concept. As out of the limelight as Duncan is, I doubt he would be comfortable with the idea of a statue placed anywhere in his lifetime.

You just gave me an idea... Holt puts up the Dob statue this season. If we meet the Jazz in the WCF again, winning team rips down the losing team's statue, Saddam style. Make it happen.

Well atleast it would be easy to catch them if they tried to pawn the statue. Somebody walking into a scrap yard with 2000-3000 pounds of pure bronze would be pretty obvious. Hell the cops tracked a 200 pound spool of pure copper back to one of my employees in about 1 hour. http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e86/kskonnord/statue.jpg

that trophy during the finals looked pretty bad ass........
