I lived in Baton Rouge in the early 90's and I could not believe the amount of racism that still goes on in Louisiana. One day at work a coworker who was in her 20's at the time and was a new mom told me the worst thing they ever did was outlaw slavery because she could use a couple slaves right then. I was speechless.
